On one of the streets of Lviv, an old model Zhigulenka stands restlessly. The current owner of this car, Igor K., has not been driving his own car for a long time.
And not at all because he is shy about the shabby appearance of the car. Not. It's just that he is frankly afraid of everything connected with her, and tries in every possible way to get rid of her. But in vain … When Igor was buying this VAZ-2101, his friends warned that the car was being pursued by bad luck, or rather, not the car itself, but its owners.
The first owner died under unclear circumstances: he landed in a ditch on an empty flat road, being completely sober. The police officers wrote down the "duty" explanation of the incident in the protocol: "I lost control." The widow, who also had rights, began to take the car from the garage from time to time. But one day she felt at the wheel that someone from behind had grabbed her by the throat with icy hands.
The frightened woman braked sharply, but, turning around, did not find anyone in the car. Having decided that after the experience of misfortune she was haunted by visions, the woman set off again. And again invisible hands began to choke her. Unable to withstand such a nightmare, she left the Lada by the side of the road and made her way home. And soon she sold the "haunted car."
The new owner was at first very pleased with the purchase: he bought a car - almost for nothing! But soon he ended up in the hospital and assured everyone that the damned car had run over him on its own, although he remembers for sure that he put it on the hand brake. After spending two months with broken legs, he immediately got rid of the restive Zhiguli after being discharged.
A certain pensioner bought them next. Technicians at several bus stations recalled afterwards how for some time he beat their doorsteps with a request to check the steering. Everything seemed to be in order. But the old man claimed that the car wanted to kill him, constantly turning into the oncoming lane at the most unexpected moment. Once he survived literally by a miracle only because he was driving at a snail's speed and the oncoming car managed to turn away from the annoying Zhigulenka, plowing a deep scratch on his side.
Rumors about the fatal VAZ-2101 spread throughout the city. The car, like a woman of easy virtue, changed owners one after another until it got to Igor K. Buying it, he did not believe in stories about devilry. But soon…
On a winter evening, in the headlights, Igor suddenly thought that some figure had darted under the wheels. And then the car jumped, as if running over a hit person.

Horrified by what had happened, Igor stopped and, jumping out onto the road, slowed down the car that was following: "Help, I hit a man!" The driver examined the road, looked under Igor's "Zhiguli" and said angrily: "What, the roof has gone?" Indeed, there was no corpse, no traces of a collision … And the next day Igor put up a notice on all the surrounding pillars: "A car is selling cheap …"
There was another materialist who did not believe in rumors. I bought it. But after a couple of days he brought the "Zhigulenok" back, saying that he did not need a "haunted" car. His children decided to investigate the purchase, but as soon as they got into the salon, they jumped out with frightened shouts: "Dad, there is some old man sitting there!" Naturally, dad did not find the mysterious old man, but the car, out of harm's way, returned it back …
There were also buyers. But in the end, the "Zhiguli", which seemed to have finally chosen Igor as their owner, still ended up at his house. Now he does not even close their doors - in a secret hope that some guys will be tempted and steal her for a ride … But all the city hijackers already know about the devil's car and do not risk approaching it.
