Scott Stockman runs Stockman's Eggs, a family owned business that supplies fresh eggs to stores across Australia. He shared photos of the amazing find that was discovered at his chicken farm last spring.
Among the other eggs lay one giant. To say that it stood out from all the rest is to say nothing. The egg weighed 176 grams, which is nearly three times the average chicken egg.
But the main surprise was in store for Scott when he saw what was inside.
What was hiding there

This biological phenomenon is called counterperistaltic contraction. This happens when an egg, which was not ready for laying, returns to the reproductive system of the hen, and a new one is formed around it. However, this is a rather rare occurrence. It doesn't often happen that two intact eggs "live" together like this.
Photos of the amazing find quickly spread on the World Wide Web, becoming a sensation and amaze everyone who saw them. Even many experts were confused.
“I’m trying to understand, from the point of view of biology, why this little egg did not fall out, it’s very strange,” said Professor Raf Freire.
Scott Stockman, who found the miracle egg, his staff and family were just as impressed. "It's incredible to see two perfectly formed eggs in one."
My find
Oddly enough, given that the phenomenon is very rare, I also saw a similar egg. Only it was much earlier, somewhere in 2005. And my family was no less surprised when one of our hens presented such a "giant". I remember comparing it to other eggs and it seemed huge. It is a pity that none of us thought of photographing the find then. They smashed, found unusual content, were surprised, told all their friends, and that's it …
