A tiny miracle baby weighing just over 500 grams and no larger than a medical syringe in size, not only managed to survive, but also coped with deadly meningitis, a problem with the intestines and sepsis.
Little George was born 3 months ahead of schedule in July 2018 to 25-year-old Hannah Rose from Werksop, Nottinghamshire (England). When he was born, his skin was so transparent that all the blood vessels were visible.
George was also put in an incubator for nursing premature babies, but his problems were just beginning. Over the next six months, he almost died five times from meningitis caught somewhere.
He also underwent 6 surgeries for bowel problems. Due to prematurity, he developed a condition called neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis. This is a severe bowel disease that occurs against the background of acute hypoxia, disruption of normal colonization of the intestine by microflora, leading to necrosis and perforation of the intestinal wall, peritonitis.
During the first operation, he lost 40 percent of his blood, and then his liver swelled up and began sepsis. To save his life, George received blood transfusions 20 times.
Every day he lived gave his mom and dad Daniel Bones an extra hope of survival. According to doctors, they have not yet seen such that so many serious medical problems fall on a premature baby at once.
When the baby was in the incubator, Hannah said it looked like a small plastic bag with a sandwich inside.

When George became very ill, Hannah and Daniel almost became desperate and even called the hospital chaplain to give the baby a final blessing. However, suddenly, the very next day after the chaplain's visit, George's condition improved and he began to recover.
Now George lives at home with his parents and everything is almost good with him. Despite the fact that he still needs to breathe additional oxygen from a cylinder, the baby gained weight and now there is nothing to remind him that once they were afraid to even touch him with a finger, he was so small and fragile.
Officially, the smallest surviving baby is tiny Emilia, who weighed 226 grams at birth and was 22 cm tall. The girl was born in 2016 in Witten, West Germany. She was born through a caesarean section at 26 weeks, as doctors feared that she would die in the womb.
