According to statistics from the Hydrometeorological Center, March 2016 was the warmest month in the northern hemisphere on record. At the same time, since May 2015, there has been a steady trend, when every next month it breaks temperature records.
"Since May last year, we have been observing alarming climate trends, when each next month becomes the warmest in the hemisphere," said representatives of the Hydrometeorological Center.
Forecasters note that the average monthly temperature norm has increased on almost all continents and increased by an average of 0.1 degrees. The warming was most noticeable in the Arctic, where a record decrease in ice cover has already been established. The only exceptions were some territories in the eastern part of Canada, as well as in the west of Europe (in Portugal and Spain), north-west of Africa and in the southern part of China.
Despite the fact that in March, in the territory of the Russian Federation, both predominantly warm and cold periods were noted, in general the temperature turned out to be noticeably higher than normal. On the islands in the Barents Sea, for example, it was 11-12 degrees warmer. On average in Russia, the excess of the norm was 3-5 degrees.
