The chicken man
In 1986, doctor Dietmar Müller discovered in the local history museum of the small town of Waldenburg a freak in alcohol from the 18th century cabinet of curiosities: among other exhibits, an underdeveloped fetus of a human chicken was kept.
Intrigued, Dr. Müller began excavating the archives and found out the following.
In 1735, in the Saxon town of Tauha, the fourth child was to be born to the spouses Andreas and Johann-Sophia Schmidt.
Mother was 28 years old, father - 38. In the eighth month, Johanna-Sophia had a premature birth. When the child was born, the parents were horrified. He looked more like a chicken than a person. Three healthy, normal children were growing up in the family, and suddenly such a freak!
Doctor Gottlieb Friderici from Leipzig immortalized the ugly little body of a child for posterity and placed it in a jar of alcohol, and then described in detail a unique case in a treatise that was named in Latin "The Rare Human Monster". However, even after 250 years, the mystery of the strange chicken man has not been solved. X-rays and computer programs taken by Dr. Müller did not clarify the reasons for the birth of the freak.
Members of the Syndrome Club (Berlin), which brings together prominent experts on human anomalies, could not find a reasonable explanation. The list of anatomical anomalies in this case is huge: the fetus has a greatly enlarged liver, the skull has a clover-like shape, no ears, a tiny lower jaw, fingers and toes of extraordinary length, nails more like claws and, finally, an unprecedented heart.
