Nature is full of mysteries and amazing phenomena. She especially surprises with the variety of living organisms. Many of them are quite bizarre in their structure and have truly fantastic physical capabilities. Take, for example, some marine life, capable of accumulating electricity of such power that its discharge is more than enough to kill any living creature. It turns out that not only wild animals, but also people-phenomena can be carriers of a deadly electric charge. Their phenomenon lies in the abnormally high electrical activity of the body, for which they are called so - "electric people".
The term "electric man" appeared in the era of electricity, but even before its onset, there were already cases when "electric people" made themselves felt. The real interest in these human phenomena was awakened only with the beginning of the study of electricity by scientists.
In 1846, the famous physicist-astronomer of that time Francois Arago first tried to investigate the phenomenon of bioelectricity in France.
The object of his scientific research was the Parisian Angelica Coten, about whom there was a rumor that she was able to "throw sparks" and push objects away from her body without exerting physical effort. Indeed, as soon as the girl slightly touched any object, it literally bounced off her. Some researchers suggested that a poltergeist was behind all this "performance", and Angelica was allegedly its bearer. This version is supported by the fact that at the moment of manifestation of a strange force that makes heavy furniture move, scientists with the help of a special electroscope device tried to detect the presence of “abnormal electricity” in her body, but this could not be done, the device did not react to the girl in any way.
However, regardless of the nature of the force exerted on Angelica, she sometimes brought the girl to convulsive seizures, accompanied by an increase in heart rate up to 120 beats per minute.
Studying Angelica Koten, Arago came to a dead end without explaining her phenomenon. At the end of the research, in his scientific report, he stated the inconsistency of the science of that time, in understanding and explaining the nature of bioelectricity in humans.
What is the phenomenon of "electric people" - a disease or a superpower? Today science cannot unequivocally answer this question, since the reason for the occurrence of this phenomenon is unclear. There is no consensus on this point in the scientific community, but most researchers tend to consider this a malfunction in the normal functioning of the body.
For example, American scientist, Doctor of Biological Sciences John Carter believes that the abnormal ability of a person to generate electricity of high power appears due to an imbalance in the body's chemical balance - when the content of sodium ions rises sharply and potassium decreases. At the same time, in "electrical people" indicators of vital functions: intracranial and arterial pressure, pulse, are unstable and exceed the norm, and the reactions of their nervous system are impaired. So, in 1869, a child was born in France, whose body was extremely saturated with static electricity. He shocked anyone who touched him. His mother especially got it. While breastfeeding her baby, she had to endure severe pain. In the dark, the child's fingers emitted a glow, and the smell of ozone was always felt in the air next to him. This baby did not live even a year, and the cause of his death was most likely "electrical illness".
Another victim of his own electricity was the Russian Vasily Ignatov, an "electric man" whose heart stopped, unable to withstand the constant electric shots.
In addition to the fact that "electric people" are in a special risk group, many of them simply cannot exist normally without experiencing painful sensations and everyday problems.
A resident of Manchester, Briton Pauline Shaw has to constantly face such difficulties. She is also capable of "throwing lightning", but for this she has to pay with a severe headache and incur material losses, since all the electrical appliances she touches immediately fail.
A similar situation of "high voltage" developed in the life of the Englishwoman Nicky Hyde-Palli, who survived a lightning strike, after which she, although she survived, turned into a living power plant that produces strong static electricity.
The consequences of a lightning strike and the subsequent transformation, for her, became simply terrible. Constantly burning out light bulbs, breaking electrical appliances and appliances - this is only a small part of the problems with which she now has to live. She is also deprived of the possibility of normal tactile contact with people, since many of her "electroshock" touches are very painful both for her and for others. Moreover, he does it regularly for medical purposes, arranging for himself a unique "electrotherapy", which is deadly for others, but, as Decke himself claims, is harmless and even useful for him. Electricity of this voltage supposedly helps him to effectively fight arthritis, rheumatism and low back pain. It is also surprising that the Chinese body can not only conduct electricity, but also keep it in itself for a short time, sufficient to fry a small fish right on the palms of your hands! Not everyone believes that this is real, and tourists specially go to the town where the "miracle cook" lives,to be convinced of its superpowers.
Despite the scientific examination passed by Zhang Deke, the scientists of the Celestial Empire have not been able to fully understand the nature of the phenomenon.
There are also "electrical people" in the world who know how to come into direct contact with bare electrical wiring that is under high voltage. Some of them use their "gift" in everyday life, repairing electrical wiring and electrical devices without disconnecting them from the power source, as do the resident of Romania Constantin Kraiu and the "electric man" Lecha Vataev from Ingushetia. Others, on the contrary, can easily render electrical equipment unusable or cause software malfunctions in computers with one touch of the hand. For example, American boy Joe Falchitano or a woman from Birmingham, whom scientists gave the pseudonym Sheila, are capable of this. Superphenomenal Sheila is even able to distort and erase information in "smart" machines, simply by touching the outlet or the place where a hidden electrical cable is laid. Once in a similar "trick" she was suspected by employees of a local bank. After the offense they inflicted on her, the woman, in revenge, made the bankers pretty nervous, causing a real cyber-commotion in the bank, accompanied by the distortion and destruction of data in computers. All attempts by specialists to understand the cause of the malfunction of the machines were in vain. But when Sheila left the walls of the bank, all the equipment worked properly again.
The history of the electric era already knows a lot of amazing facts confirming the superpowers of "electric people", but how they arise is not clear to anyone. Until now, their phenomenon has not been solved.
