The mummy of Lady Cao, found in 2006, has changed the views of historians about the culture and life of the Mochica people, who once inhabited Peru. Thanks to modern technology, researchers have managed to recreate the face of an ancient priestess.
Peruvian archaeologists have used 3D imaging and printing technologies to recreate the face of Lady Kao, the famous mummy found in 2006. The image was taken after careful analysis of the structure of the skull and remains. According to the representatives of the Ministry of Culture of Peru, it took the researchers 10 months.
A 1,700-year-old mummy was found in a destroyed pyramid near the Peruvian city of Trujillo. Due to the low humidity at the burial site, the remains are very well preserved - the researchers even managed to make out the numerous tattoos in the form of spiders and snakes that covered Lady Kao's legs.
In her tomb were also found weapons, clubs, javelin throwers and other artifacts with which the rulers of Peru were usually buried. Researchers speculate that she could have been a powerful priestess or even a ruler.
Lady Kao died at the age of 20, archaeologists believe, due to complications during childbirth.

The reconstructed copy of Lady Cao will be on display at the Peruvian Ministry of Culture until July 16, and then moved to a museum in El Brujo.
