Halfway between Reno and Las Vegas is the small town of Tonopah, home to only two thousand people.
Despite its size, the town can provide a lot of entertainment for those who love gambling, and is a miniature version of Las Vegas. There is a small casino, and the hotel next door has slot machines and a ghost called the "Woman in Red". But as if the ghost wasn't enough for such a small settlement, there is also something in it, one name of which seems to come from a horror movie - Motel of the Clowns.
Located by the road and next to the cemetery, the motel is really full of clowns. And ghosts. For many years it has attracted visitors from all over the world. It is easy to find, because on the road next to it there is a huge sign with a small figure of a clown with orange hair. For those who are afraid of clowns, staying at this hotel will turn into a sheer nightmare. As soon as you enter it, the clowns will surround you. Laughing, sad, young, young. There is also a full-length Ronald McDonald who greets the guests entering the hotel.
When the previous owner of the motel put it up for sale in 2017 for $ 900,000, many were convinced that the new owners would prefer to demolish the building and build something else in its place. But the motel went to a man named Heim Anand, who loves clowns. He bought the establishment and left it unchanged and working. Heim says that he first entered the circus when he was fourteen years old and immediately fell in love with clowns.
Since then, he has been delighted with everything related to clowns. And when he saw that the motel was looking for a new owner, he told himself that he must certainly become one. Anand himself constantly lives in the hotel. And as if it's not enough that there are many different around him, including scary clowns, Heim sleeps in a room that is considered the abode of ghosts.
He admits that on the first night in a new place he was really uncomfortable. He was sure something bad would happen. But then he realized that the clowns wanted his presence here and they would not harm him in any way. Many people have the strangest hotel experiences, but so far no one has been hurt in any way. Anand says he intends to open a clown-themed cafe so people can come and have coffee while surrounded by hundreds of clowns.
The motel remains one of the most noteworthy in the United States and, thanks to its weird theme and close proximity to the cemetery, consistently ranks on the country's "scariest hotel" lists, despite the fact that its fame looks somewhat hyped. Many people think it is better to spend the night surrounded by ghosts than in a room with clowns.
