The legend of the remote outpost of the Third Reich in Antarctica has been alive for over 70 years. Back in the late 30s, Germany began to actively explore the southernmost continent in the world. Countless expeditions, flights of planes, flights of huge airships. Everything was used in this Antarctic race. And already at the age of 40, Hitler was informed that the German navy had created an "impregnable" outpost of the Third Reich in Antarctica. The base was rumored to be called New Swabia. It was said that Hitler used his submarines to build it. The so-called "special convoy of Hitler". Giant submarines that could carry many payloads. Part of the cargo was placed in the holds, part in special containers on the deck of submarines. Allegedly, these ships were forbidden to take part in hostilities. They quietly and imperceptibly approached the shore and emerged through underground passages in some non-freezing lakes. The lake itself was blocked by an anti-submarine trawl. And the passage was mined. Therefore, no one could get there even by accident.
When Nazism collapsed, and tanks rumbled in the squares of Berlin, the last submarines of the convoy took out the archives and relics of Germany. They say Hitler himself and his entourage did not get on board, as the former companions-in-arms of the dictator decided to leave him in Berlin, to certain death. But from some death camps, thousands of prisoners have disappeared. No, they were not destroyed, they were not burned in crematoria. They just disappeared and no one ever saw them again. I will say more, there are rumors that SMERSH has found secret maps of some fortified area in Antarctica somewhere. But I never found the real facts anywhere. Rumors remained only rumors.
And here in the archive of satellite images I found photographs for 2012. This place is located on the coast of Queen Maud land. The same one where (according to rumors) New Swabia was built. Until 2012, this place was hidden by ice and snow. It opened only after large-scale ice melting by 2012. There have never been any research bases there. In any case, I did not find any mention of them. At coordinates 69 ° 28.366'S, 39 ° 36.106'E, there are two large buildings, apparently made of reinforced concrete. Nearby on the shore there is what looks like a pier. Remains of barrack-type buildings. And also a pillbox with a huge weapon, apparently dismantled from the battleship. Two ice-free lakes One (really) is blocked by a network, you can see it from the picture. Since the ice near the coast never melts, I think that the submarines passed through underground tunnels, right into these lakes. The gun covered the coast in a very good place. The shelling sector is almost circular.
I think that everyone who was there died. From hunger and cold. From disease. Both Germans and prisoners. The impregnable outpost turned out to be a mass grave. However, these are my guesses.
