Recently, one of the largest international news agencies - Associated Press - published the curious findings of American archaeologists who have explored a cave in Florida. Scientists worked there from 2012 to 2014 and found several interesting finds. These include an ancient knife, which was probably used by hunters, and stone plates. And now - attention: the artifacts are about 14.5 thousand years old, and, according to scientists, they belonged to … Siberians. Yes, yes, we were not mistaken: according to archaeologists, these things confirm the theory that Siberian tribes in ancient times mastered the American lands - first they got to Alaska, and then spread to the south of the continent. This migration supposedly took place 16 thousand years ago.
Here are the times: did our distant ancestors thousands of years ago know about the existence of the North American continent? For an answer to this question, we turned to Vyacheslav Molodin, Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the SB RAS.
- You haven't discovered any America, - Vyacheslav Ivanovich laughed. - For more than one year there has been a theory that there was a land "bridge" from Siberia to Alaska. Archaeologists have found in America things similar to those that were among the peoples of Siberia.
- And the findings in Florida support this theory?
- While it is difficult to judge - we are waiting for official scientific articles.
