Off the coast of California, a group of oceanologists discovered a mysterious creature that looks like a luminous spring. Data on such a creature last appeared over 100 years ago.
A strange creature was discovered by chance, it clung to the bathyscaphe and together with it rose to the surface. Seeing a strange ocean dweller, the scientists did not believe their eyes and luck, it turned out to be alive and did not receive any damage when surfacing.
True, it was not alive for long, the scientists, delighted with the catch, immediately dissected the creature and preserved it in order to deliver it to the Smithsonian Museum.
Scientists suggest that this is Bathochordaeus charon, a mysterious species of appedicularia, which was written about in scientific works more than a century ago. The appendiculars are similar to small tadpoles, and their size does not exceed a few millimeters. They live in soft shells through which seawater is passed, feeding on plankton and other edible impurities.

The first about a strange creature in 1899 was the German biologist Karl Chun, who, in the process of studying the flora and fauna of the South Atlantic, discovered an unusually large appendicularia. Its strange appearance led Chun to the conclusion that it is a very rare deep sea organism. Chun named the creature Bathochordaeus charon, after Charon, a character in Greek mythology who transported the souls of the dead across the Styx River.
Since then, no one has ever been able to catch or even see this mysterious creature. In the scientific community, Chun was even accused of inventions and erroneous reports about the new creature. Now it turned out that Chun was telling the truth, and the DNA examination carried out now showed that the accidentally captured creature belongs to the Bathochordaeus charon species.
