Among the group of other children, 14-year-old Veronica Cominguez does not seem to stand out in any way. In fact, the girl has to wear long T-shirts a couple of sizes larger all the time to hide what is growing from her belly.
Veronica lives in the Philippines in Iligan City. She was born with the remains of her twin sister's arms and another piece of her body, probably part of a twin's leg.
The girl does not experience any discomfort due to her anomaly and even regularly trims the nails on the extra pens growing from her abdomen.
But the older the girl gets, the more her parents are concerned about her future. The girl is now preparing for an operation, during which surgeons will remove all body parts of the twin parasite from her abdomen.
“When I was little, they were small too, but when I grew up and they also grew up,” says Veronica, “Sometimes they move and sometimes liquid comes out of them, which makes my dress wet”.
The girl's mother says that twins were often born in their family before, and when she became pregnant, her belly was very large and she thought she was also carrying twins. Probably at some stage of development, the second twin began to receive less nutrition and was absorbed by the body of the first twin.
“From this twin, liquid can come out, which accumulates in Veronica's navel, and sometimes even blood flows. The liquid smells bad and looks like human urine."

Probably somewhere in the remnant of the twin's body is the urinary system, which turned out to be working. The parasite twin receives food from the girl's body.
According to Dr. Espineda, the removal of these body parts will not be difficult for surgeons, since most likely they are not attached to the vital internal organs of the child.
The girl will undergo surgery in Thailand, where she will fly in the coming weeks.
