A resident of the Turkish city of Istanbul remained a virgin until the age of 30 due to a rare disease. Her story is quoted by The Sun.

Petek Tatli, 38, admitted that eight years ago, sex hurt her terribly. The reason for this was vaginismus, a pathological condition in which the involuntary contraction of the pubic-coccygeal muscle makes any vaginal penetration impossible. She first encountered problems in her intimate life as a teenager. In her youth, she changed two partners, and with each of them she had a long relationship.

“None of them really cared about this intimate moment. We had some kind of closeness, but they treated my problems with understanding. But I didn't have a strong sexual attraction to them,”she said.

The turning point came in 2009 when Tatli took up yoga and meditation. “When I started studying to be a yoga instructor, I began to learn more about my body. The attitude towards vaginismus has also changed,”says the Turkish woman. At 30, she mustered up the courage to seek help from a clinic specializing in vaginismus. Through physical therapy, she began to see progress.

Then Tatli decided to step out of her comfort zone and go on a journey. At one of the retreats, she met Johann, with whom she began a new relationship. With him, she was able to have vaginal sex without pain. “It was very emotional. I couldn't stop crying during sex. They were tears of joy. I think my partner was feeling a little uncomfortable! - she shared. - But such a load fell off my shoulders.

Tatley claims that now vaginismus is a thing of the past for her. She works as a yoga teacher and practices mindfulness and helps other women cope with vaginismus.
