What will be discussed today, for us, people who are mostly far from various magical rituals, magic and occultism, this may seem like a frivolous and even funny story. Nevertheless, given how much unknown and incomprehensible there is around from the point of view of modern science, what happened makes many at least think.
The delights of colonization
At the dawn of the development of the American continent by settlers from all over the world, many Indian tribes lived in the lands of today's USA. Before the arrival of the colonists, they lived their usual life, which had developed over many centuries. They hunted, grew maize and tobacco, sometimes fought among themselves and, most importantly, considered the land their own, honored their laws and honored their departed ancestors.
And now uninvited strangers appeared, who began to establish their own rules, completely disregarding the opinion of the indigenous population and by any means trying to drive this very population from their land. Any methods were used for this. The Indians were drunk with alcohol, they deceived the land for next to nothing, were infected with incurable diseases, or simply killed entire tribes, conducting army operations.
The result, as a rule, was one. The surviving Indians ended up on reservations located on the most useless lands, and vast pastures and fertile lands were at the disposal of newcomers. Thus, the number of Indians rapidly declined and culture and traditions disappeared with incredible speed and inevitability.

Not all Indians resignedly put up with what was happening and, to the best of their ability, many tried to resist the insatiable pale-faced newcomers. One of the rebellious was a leader named Tekumse, who raised his warriors to war with white robbers. But what could the semi-wild Indians oppose to the well-armed and more numerous soldiers of the United States that had already appeared by that time?
And so, in 1814, the US Army under the leadership of General William Henry Garison defeated a detachment of Redskins. After the battle, the dying leader sent a messenger to the general with an oral message:
“Do you think you have won a victory over me? I am the one who made the sun and the moon darken, I am the one who has been given the right to honor and protect the land of our ancestors. I tell you that Harrison will die and after him all the great leaders of the pale-faced, the chosen ones, will die every 20 years. And when the next one dies, let everyone remember the death of my red-skinned brothers!"
This leader was Tekumse, about whom it is known that he was a descendant of a revered clan of shamans and healers and, according to the Indians, possessed some supernatural abilities and had secret knowledge passed down from generation to generation. Further events make even hardened skeptics believe in the power of the curse.

In total, in the history of the United States there were 7 presidents who were elected a multiple of 20 per year.
None of them lived to see the end of their term. The beginning was laid by the already mentioned general, who became president almost 30 years after the described battle. His reign was the shortest in US history.
- President William Henry Harison took office on March 4, 1841. On April 4, 1841, he died suddenly.
- Abraham Lincoln is the 16th President of the United States. Elected by the President in 1860. April 15, 1865 Lincoln is shot in the head.
- James Garfield - 20th President. Became president in 1880. On July 2, 1881, he was seriously wounded in the back from a revolver. For some reason, the bullet cannot be removed and Garfield dies 4 months later from purulent inflammation.
- William McKinley is the 25th President of the United States. At the end of 1900, he was re-elected for a second presidential term. On September 14, 1991, he dies from a gunshot wound.
- Warren Harding is the 29th president. Elected in 1920. Dies suddenly on 2 August 1923. The wife forbids autopsy and the cause of death remains unknown.
- Franklin Delano Roosevelt is the president who managed to become the head of the White House 4 times. The last re-election took place in 1940. April 12, 1945 Roosevelt dies of a cerebral hemorrhage.
- John Kenedy is the 35th President of the United States. Chosen in 1960. On November 22, 1963, he was shot by a sniper while driving along a street in the city of Dalas in an open limousine.
