A rain of mysterious white threads fell in Portugal, leaving the locals bewildered. The strange white threads come to life in ultraviolet light, and their composition remains a mystery.

Some of the eyewitnesses to the incident even doubt that they are of terrestrial origin, believing that their source was a passing UFO.

“They fell in the afternoon. I tried to find out if planes were flying here at that moment, but I could not find out anything. This happened two weekends in a row. A few friends and I sent samples for analysis, which showed a lot of strange things. They react to ultraviolet light. They come to life,”said one of the witnesses of the incident.

Similar cases of filaments falling from the sky have previously been reported in countries such as Finland and Canada, but their samples often literally evaporate before scientists can study them properly.

UFO hunters believe that they may be associated with the engines of alien ships or with the so-called "chemical trails", sinister biological agents allegedly distributed by aircraft around the world.

“UFO sightings were often associated with the appearance of angel hair until the 1970s, and in the past they were seen concurrently with religious visions in the sky, such as the vision of the Virgin Mary in Fatima, Portugal in 1917,” said Nigel Watson. author of the UFO Research Guide.

According to the scientist, these thin filaments falling from the sky were viewed as a byproduct of UFO propulsion systems, although skeptics tend to attribute this to the migration of spiders or dust particles polarized by atmospheric electricity.

“But in recent years, cases of angel hair sightings have increased again. Samples evaporate quickly, which makes it difficult to analyze their composition and nature,”explained the expert.
