So what is this artifact? They were made mainly of bronze or stone, the finds have 12 faces with often rather large holes, relative to the figure itself. In addition, there is a small rounded protrusion at each of the corners. I don’t know what to call it correctly, because everywhere they come up with different names.
The size of the artifacts is relatively small, but as a result, a huge number of them have been found all over the world and here I have questions.
My common question is why thousands of years ago people of different states and even continents had something so common, as if it was created for everyone, as now, for example, telephones. Not the most perfect comparison, but the first thing that came to mind.
In other words, dodecahedrons were used all over the world and, apparently, they were common among ordinary people, and not just some rich or high-ranking ones.
In total, I read about two dozen different versions of the purpose, and most of them are quite simple and mundane, but as for me, they are not at all believable.

Would at least one person make this complex structure for something trivial that can be replaced with something very simple and easy to create? I doubt it.
Thus, more than a dozen versions of the purpose of dodecahedrons can be forgotten, at least so it seems to me. And there are more plausible versions, but still with questions.

Several, it seems to me, more plausible versions, have been attributed to the field of astronomy. One of these versions is that each of the faces is a zodiac sign. It is difficult to answer the truth what this gives in the end. Some believed that they were guessing or doing something like that, but I doubt that 1.5 thousand years ago, hundreds of people around the world sat and wondered, although who knows what the ancient people were fond of.
Other versions to the field of astronomy are measuring the angle of incidence of the Sun, or, in general, these are instruments for some kind of observations of the cosmos itself and the starry sky.
More fantastic versions are that dodecahedrons could store energy or create it. It is also doubtful, but even such a version seems to me more realistic than creating a complex structure, as an ordinary candlestick.
Some associate these artifacts with science and knowledge that are still unknown to us. All because of the ideal symmetry, as well as the elements of the artifact itself, the numbers of which have some meaning in our everyday life, for example - 12. It can be months and hours, and zodiac signs, in general, you can guess for a long time.
What conclusion can be drawn? Recently, in principle, few people talk or write about dodecahedrons, since everyone has forgotten about them, but the finds are still interesting, given that they were used all over the world and, apparently, by many people.
In this article, I described some versions and expressed my subjective point of view, no more, you should understand this. In general, I am inclined to the version of the purpose of dodecahedrons in the field of astronomy, but what exactly they did is difficult to answer.
Although, on the other hand, it is unlikely that hundreds of people in the world were interested in astronomy, thousands of years ago. In general, these artifacts are quite mysterious in their design and even more so in their purpose.
The most interesting thing is that no mentions of them were found at all, neither in pictures, nor in documents, nor in any other sources, which also raises certain questions.
