The inhabitants of the North Caucasus have known for many years about the existence of ancient buildings in Kabardino-Balkaria. One of them is located in the vicinity of the village of Zayukovo. Here in the mountain there is a half-meter hole through which you can enter the territory of a large underground quarter. The structure resembles an overturned pyramid. Close to it is the "old city" with streets and houses in which no one lives.

Archaeologists were interested in the stories of people, so they decided to find the place where the main gate was located, because the manhole could be a random passage. A speleologist helped to find the entrance to the mysterious underground world. The local inhabitant has long been attracted by the darkness of the grotto, from which there was a draft. The man did not dare to go down into the partially disassembled blockage, therefore he entered the group of researchers.

Through the entrance, the expedition ended up not on the streets of the old city, but in an incomprehensible man-made cone-shaped building with an inverted base. The walls of the pyramid are made of massive blocks. Their correct shape made it possible to lay one stone on top of another without the use of bonding mortar, which is very similar to the way the pyramids were built in Egypt.

There are many cracks inside the structure. You can stick your hand through these passages - they are so miniature. After inspection, the experts came to the conclusion that the underground bunker had a technical purpose. It could be a power plant, a giant refrigerator, or something similar. This hypothesis was confirmed by the absence of any inscriptions on the walls.

The team plans to continue research with subsequent penetration into the territory of the underground city. Cavers want confirmation of the stories of Zayukovo residents. If a two-thousand-year-old settlement is found, and it can be associated with a pyramid, then it will become clear how both structures complemented each other. Namely, for what purposes the ancient inhabitants used the man-made installation, and how it helped to ensure their livelihoods.
