Analyzing the growth of residents on the territory of Russia, scientists have found that men and women in different regions have an average growth rate that differs from each other. This is not surprising, since the territory of the Russian Federation is huge, and the regions, especially remotely located, differ in climatic conditions.

Scientists also found that the average height of a Russian in recent years was 176 cm (man) and 165 cm (woman). Compared to earlier studies, this figure has decreased slightly. This means that there is a downward trend in the average height of Russian residents. Now let's take a closer look at the “fluctuations” within the country.

Comparing residents of St. Petersburg and Moscow, researchers have established another surprising fact. So, female representatives turned out to be of the same height, but with men it is not so simple. The growth of the stronger sex in St. Petersburg was established - 178.5 cm, differed by as much as one and a half centimeters from the average Muscovite. Such results, in addition to gender differences, are also interesting in that they are quite different from the general indicator of population growth in Russia (176 cm).

It is also worth paying attention to the age group that the scientists studied. The analysis included men 18-40 years old; in women, this range was smaller - 18-30 years. It was in this age range that the result showed some stability. In people older than the subjects, this indicator decreases. This indicates that with age, irreversible processes occur in the body and aging is inevitable.

Study details

The study was carried out by specialists of the Central Research Institute of Organization and Informatization of Healthcare of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. To implement the experiment, they used the anthropological data of the residents, which are contained in their health card. In general, about 3.7 million people from various regions of the Russian Federation were used in order to obtain exclusively objective results.

In addition to the differences in the height of young people in both capitals, experts also concluded that:
