The middle of the 20th century was marked by the discovery of a phenomenon to which science could not give an answer. In the depths of the ocean, unidentified underwater objects began to be recorded, which made sounds reminiscent of the croaking of frogs. The objects were appropriately named - Quakers.

The stories told by sailors on this topic have existed for a long time and were passed from mouth to mouth. But the Quakers took the issue to a whole different level. It became impossible to ignore this problem - submarines from different countries began to record unidentified underwater objects with enviable regularity. The term "Quaker" appeared in official documents.
For the first time, the British and Americans faced this phenomenon during the Second World War. Their sonar equipment, superior at that time to the German one, caught strange sounds from the ocean. As a result, they concluded that Germany possesses a new secret weapon. In panic, the Allies classified this fact and did not return to it until the end of the war.
Reports of the observation of Quakers by Soviet sailors appeared already in the 50s in connection with the use of submarines of the 611 and 613 series. This is what an eyewitness to such a meeting, the commander of the Northern Fleet submarine, said: “When we entered the Norwegian Sea, our acoustician heard that under water we are surrounded by certain enemies who act very energetically. They actively maneuver, both vertically and horizontally. Their sounds are unknown to us and do not lend themselves to classification. At first it seems that an unknown enemy is attacking, but then the sounds decay. Everyone is shocked. Having returned to the base, we report to the command about the incident. The command is also shocked. Just a question for science: what is it? And science cannot say anything, it itself does not understand anything …"

What makes Quaker signals special? This secret of the depths of the ocean caused such confusion among scientists and the military, since the nature of the sounds was sharply different from other underwater noises coming from the water column. Quakers in the ocean were conscious. Eyewitnesses said they had the impression that unidentified underwater objects were trying to establish contact. As they sailed around the submarines, the frequency and tone of their signals changed. Mysterious creatures actively responded to hydroacoustic signals from submarines, accompanying the submarines until they left a certain area. Then the Quakers gave a farewell signal and left. No aggressive actions on their part were noted and their presence on submarines did not cause negative phenomena. However, until the Quakers retired,the submarine crews were in a state of tension.
It should be said that the military did not immediately understand that they were talking about unidentified underwater objects. For a long time, some NATO countries seriously believed that the objects they encountered were nothing more than the latest developments of the Russians. However, in the end, it was concluded that modern technology does not allow the creation of vehicles that move under water at a speed of, for example, 400 km / h. Assumptions were made that the underwater civilization still exists, after which a number of studies were carried out in this direction. However, nothing was reported about their results.
