These fossilized remnants of the forest became an integral part of the beach on the Pacific Ocean less than 20 years ago when the area of the American town of Neskovin, Oregon, was subjected to a powerful storm.
Since the then bad weather, the ghost forest has emerged from under the sand, and is now considered a local landmark. Residents of the surrounding area say that previously the skeletons of relic trees also sometimes appeared above the surface of the beach. However, their number was not so massive and after a while the stumps disappeared again, becoming a real legend of these places. The age of the remains is estimated at about 2,000 years. Also, scientists managed to find out the approximate date of the transformation of a real forest into a ghostly one. It happened in 1700, when the area of modern Oregon was shaken by a powerful earthquake.
But my question is: what about the roots? Is it not that over 2000 years in such a sandy soil, these roots have not lost their strength and the hemp has simply not been washed out on the coast? In general, I would cut myself a couple of stumps and make crafts out of them. Imagine - you have at home figurines made of wood, which is more than 2000 years old.
