Not everyone knows that in the Scottish city of Dumbarton (West Dunbartonshire county) there is a mysterious bridge, which, according to the local residents, has ominous supernatural properties. The 15-meter-high Overton Bridge, built in 1895 and decorated by bartizans, is notorious for having a total of over 600 dogs jumped from it over the past 70 years, many of them crashing to death.

No one knows what caused such a strange behavior of our four-legged friends, but the fact that dogs tend to jump from this structure is a scientifically proven fact. The Overton Bridge has long been of interest to specialists who are trying in vain to unravel its mystery. It is only known for certain that animals jump from the same place, always in clear weather, and most often we are talking about representatives of breeds with long muzzles.

City officials were even forced to put up a sign here warning dog owners of the dangerous property of the bridge and urging them to use leashes. However, this does not stop stray animals, whose corpses are periodically found below.

The famous canine psychologist David Sands has been researching this place for many months, but has not made any meaningful conclusions. According to one hypothesis of the specialist, dogs are attracted by the musky smell of urine from minks living under the bridge. Another version says that color-blind dogs fall down accidentally, because the local landscape is seen by animals in a completely different way than to us, and they do not observe the difference between the bridge and its background.

Local author Paul Owens strongly disagrees with Dr. Sands' materialistic conclusions. The writer conducted his own investigation and determined that Dumbarton is a unique place where numerous paranormal phenomena have been recorded since the Middle Ages.

For example, the ghost of the White Lady is often noticed here, and the Overton Bridge itself is considered by psychics to be the so-called "thin place", where the line between our and the afterlife is very fragile. Owens recalls that people fell from this structure several times, but for some reason the journalists were more interested in the death of the citizens' pets. But in October 1994, one man even threw his newborn son out of here, shouting strange words: "this child is the Antichrist", and then jumped down himself …

One way or another, "the bridge of canine suicides", as it is unofficially called by the people, is a curious modern mystery that invariably impresses fans of the paranormal and annoys orthodox scientists who are unable to find an intelligible scientific explanation for what is happening.
