Located in County Offaly, Leap Castle is known as one of the most mysterious places in Ireland. It is inhabited by ghosts. One of them, according to members of a group of researchers of the paranormal, they managed to photograph in one of the mirrors of the castle.
On June 1, 2019, a team of supernatural specialists, along with 15 curious ones, went to the mysterious castle. One of them recorded on video how a strange figure appeared in the mirror.
Lead researcher Siobhan McAuley told IrishMirror that a man could be seen in the mirror walking back and forth when asked. This ghost was named “The Man in the Mirror”. The video, as usual, is not of the best quality. The shooter's hands were shaking, so it is not clear what they really saw in the mirror - a ghost, a reflection, or is it just a flare on the camera lens caused by constant shaking.
But Lip Castle has a rich history of paranormal incidents. At the same time, even information about when it was built varies. Some believe that it was erected in the 12th century, others - that in the fifteenth. The only convergence is that it was built on the site that the Druids had previously used for their initiation ceremonies.
The castle was originally called LeimUiBhanain, which roughly translates to O'Bannon's Leap.
The O'Bannons were a wealthy family, but they did not rule the castle for long. The O'Caroll family laid siege to the castle, according to legend, there was a real massacre. After the chieftain of the O'Caroll clan died, his two sons began a battle over who would be the next leader. Tadeusz, who was a priest, was killed while serving by his brother Teige in the “bloody chapel”. The ghost of Thaddeus is often seen in her. The McMahon family were invited to the castle for a party and poisoned by the O'Carolls. The spirits of the McMahons still roam the surrounding lands. One of the most famous ghosts of the castle is the "red lady", who is a very tall woman in red robes who holds a cold weapon in her hands.
According to legend, she was captured by the O'Carolls and was regularly abused. When she became pregnant and gave birth to a child, he was killed, and then the unfortunate woman committed suicide.
Among the many horrifying discoveries in the castle, skeletons once found behind the wall of the chapel, planted on wooden stakes, should be mentioned. There were so many of them that it took three carts to get them out. It is believed that these were guests of the owners of the castle, who fell into a trap, at the bottom of which there were sharp stakes.

The daughter of the O'Carrolls later became the owner of the castle, and her husband is said to have hidden untold treasures around him. Then he was captured, and when he returned to the castle, he forgot where he buried his treasures. His ghost, called the "wild captain", is often seen here. He is still looking for lost wealth.
