The opening of the world's first hotel on the space station is scheduled for 2022, according to SpaceNews.
The American company Orion Span is developing the hotel on the Aurora modular orbital station. The area of the hotel will be 42 square meters, which can accommodate four guests and two crew members.
“Guests will be in orbit at the hotel at an altitude of 320 kilometers above the surface (the Earth. - Ed.), All the while being in a state of zero gravity,” - said Orion Span CEO Frank Bunger in an interview with Forbes magazine. According to him, guests will be able to take part in experiments on growing fruits and vegetables, which after the trip can be taken with you as a souvenir.
According to the magazine, a ticket for 12 days of hotel accommodation will cost $ 9.5 million. The amount includes three months of pre-flight preparation, as well as transfers to and from the space station.
The hotel will revolve around the Earth every 90 minutes, so its residents can watch 16 sunrises and sunsets every day.
