But now representatives of the company say that they are ready to record any track in DNA in order to preserve it in a format that is gaining popularity.
Recall that the startup is engaged in printing artificial DNA strands and artificial genes. And a pill-sized DNA carrier can store more data than a terabyte hard drive. Twist Bioscience has already raised $ 259 million in investment. Now anyone can use the services of the company, with the only proviso that it will cost quite a lot. For example, uploading your favorite 12 megabyte song into DNA would cost about $ 100,000. But it is not all that bad! According to the director of Twist Bioscience Emily Leproust, “In the coming years, the price of storing data on DNA will only fall, and by 2028 this service will cost about 10 cents. We are now continuing to experiment with writing information into genes. And there is no need to worry about the safety of data: all information is backed up, which means that it can be restored in a few minutes."
