Not even a year has passed since the death of Elena Eremina's grandfather. Lena grieves for the deceased, often remembers him with a kind word, although during her lifetime she did not honor Sergei Dmitrievich too much. Grandfather lived with them in the same house, helped with the housework. He always fed a dog named Dyck, fed chickens and managed in the garden. But it should be noted that he had an incomprehensible relationship with the dog. Sometimes grandfather scratched his withers and said: "Well done, beauties!", And sometimes Dyck growled at him and did not let him, once even bit him on his hand.
Although one cannot speak badly about the dead, Elena can still remember little good about her grandfather. He was a very bad man. He often offended his grandmother, who is no longer in the world, he liked to drink, he cheated. Probably, his character was strongly influenced by the fact that during his service in the army, he guarded prisoners, with whom he behaved accordingly. But we must give him his due, all his life he worked like a bull, carried all the money to the family, raised two wonderful sons, it is a pity that the eldest is no longer alive. When they came to my grandchildren, I always gave money. No one could have thought that he was such a strange person, as if several personalities coexisted in him, his essence was revealed to everyone, when, after the death of his grandmother, he moved to live in the house of the family of his youngest son.
The first thing that Sergei Dmitrievich began to do was to tell everyone that he bought a house and now took his son's family to him, in reality everything was on the contrary. The relatives did not focus on this, let others think as they want, but they talked to grandfather that he did not spread rumors. But this did not help, in the future he began to tell what a terrible daughter-in-law he has: he mocks him, does not feed, in general, everything that he told, as if no one knows. It's just that when someone from the family came to the local store, the saleswomen looked askance, and down the street, everyone whispered behind the backs of the Eremins. But they survived this too, the neighbors soon saw through Dmitrievich.
At home, grandfather, as if not on purpose, all the time built some kind of intrigue: he would pluck out all the favorite flowers of the daughter-in-law, referring to what he thought it was weeds, then he would turn off the granddaughters' computer, simply pulling the cord out of the network, then he would get drunk to hell and lie down sleep right outside the gate of the house. Somehow he was going to leave to live in his homeland, then he decided to live with his grandmother, from a neighboring house. That proverb is true: old, what a small! “Maybe this is the manifestation of senile insanity,” says Elena, “or maybe even then his diagnosis began to appear. The fact is that somewhere seven months before his death, he became generally inadequate. He turned on electricity everywhere, opened all the taps, fortunately, that always, someone was nearby, otherwise, it is not known how it could have ended. When his parents brought him to a psychiatrist, she clearly diagnosed senile insanity."
Sergei Dmitrievich spent two months of rehabilitation in psychiatry. Now he needed 24/7 supervision. He himself could no longer serve himself as before. The psychiatrist stated: “I advise you to take your grandfather into a house for psychochronic people, or make bars for him on the windows and put him in an isolated room, it is not yet known how the disease will manifest itself, there are quiet patients, but there are aggressive ones who rush at people! It is simply impossible to predict the consequences! Despite how much trouble Sergei Dmitrievich brought, the son and daughter-in-law could not simply hand him over to where he would simply die in a short time. They took him home, didn’t make bars, gave the patient the necessary medicine, hired a nurse, both of them were working, could not quit their job.
Six months later, Sergei Dmitrievich died of a massive stroke. The daughter-in-law, discovering something was wrong, immediately called an ambulance, he was taken to the hospital. There he spent two weeks, every day the treatment cost 300-500 UAH. but the grandfather was never saved, the age of 75 and the diagnosis made themselves felt. Elena came to the funeral immediately, and as long as the grandfather lay in the coffin at home, the granddaughter sat over him, shedding tears. “At that moment I remembered only all the good things,” Elena recalls, “how my grandfather played the Katyusha accordion for us, it was his favorite song. How he loved to joke and tease. As if he brought us a present from work, sweets, apples: “The bunny passed it on!” And we naively believed, and our joy knew no bounds! I asked my grandfather for forgiveness for everything, maybe where I offended him, I did not behave correctly. And he lay motionless, unrecognizable,his illness changed him a lot, he lost twenty kilograms."
The funeral went well, according to all traditions, grandfather was buried and remembered as it should. Candles were burning in the house for forty days for the peace of his soul. But apparently his soul has not yet found peace and moved into a dog. Elena was the first to notice. “When we returned from the cemetery, mom and dad went to rest, and I cleaned around the house, now and then ran, now into the yard, now into the house. So I went into the house again and clearly heard my grandfather coughing behind me, I stopped as if rooted to the spot and was afraid to turn around, but still overcame myself. When I turned around, I saw only the dog. Dyck had coughed before, but that hasn't happened before! - Elena Eremina talks about an inexplicable phenomenon."
Then this cough and a kind of "ehe-he-he!" - so often did grandfather, and the daughter-in-law heard. I told my husband about this, he, of course, did not believe it: “You make up everything! Wonder it to you! It can not be so!". But when I noticed something unusual myself, I started thinking … How is this possible? Then the eldest daughter came to visit with her son and saw how the child was crying, as he did in front of strangers, but there was no one in the house except them. The kid watched the air with his eyes, turned his head in one direction or the other, as if following a person, and sometimes looked at one point, and then even smiled at someone who was not clear.
