Who is Serpent Gorynych? This is a huge and powerful fire-breathing dragon - a mythological character of Slavic legends and a hero of Russian folk tales. He lived on the mountain, hence the name "Gorynych". He frightened the honest people and kidnapped the princesses, and then ate them. So, at least, ancient sources describe events. Many good fellows went to battle with him. But the monster had several heads. The knight will chop off one head with a sword, and another will immediately grow in its place. Flames burst from each mouth. How can you defeat a terrible dragon?
But there were heroes who defeated the snake. Here, however, the information requires clarification. Who, after all, was the formidable character of distant legends? Was he a serpent or a dragon? There is a big difference between the two.
The dragon is a snake-like creature with paws and wings. But the snake never had wings and paws. But he had universal wisdom. And if he had one, then he could not behave cruelly and aggressively, since the mind excludes violence. The wise man of the princesses will not steal and eat. This is not productive, not rational, and just plain stupid.
So the Serpent Gorynych was a dragon. However, in ancient Slavic legends, only the heads are told, that there were many of them. But about wings and paws is not written anywhere. So it remains to stand at a crossroads and shrug. This character is not clear and mysterious. However, he is mentioned in many legends, and therefore, he existed on a sinful earth. Our distant ancestors couldn't all lie and invent something that had never happened before.
So we face a dilemma about the mysterious essence of a bloodthirsty serpent. But there is one little clue here. Since this creature lived on a mountain, it is quite possible to assume that it had an inextricable connection with the underworld. After all, the entrance to the world of the dead is precisely located on a high hill. It is in the mountains that there are caves through which you can get into the underworld and see firsthand the execution of the Last Judgment.
Thus, we can conclude that a powerful and terrible entity faithfully and faithfully served the Devil. It should also be added that it still serves. An innumerable stream of sinful souls, incessant succession descending into hell, falls into the hands of devils. They take their wards and take them to places where retribution for earthly sins is performed. Our snake, which we have already fallen in love with, is the eldest in this brotherhood. He directs those devils that deal with the most fallen souls. They are murderers, rapists and state criminals.
They fall to the very bottom of the underworld. This is the last of the seven circles of hell. At one time, Dante argued that in this circle there are mainly Genoese, that is, the inhabitants of Genoa. In the Middle Ages, this city had the status of a state, and the citizens inhabiting it were pathologically cruel and greedy. They killed people, sold young children into slavery and performed other lewd practices incompatible with the high rank of a person.

But Dante was an idealist. He naively believed that the rest of the world's population was better than the inhabitants of Genoa. In reality, this is not the case. And in other cities and towns you come across terrible monsters in human form, capable of terrible and terrible crimes. Therefore, there are very few Genoese at the bottom of the underworld. Their souls weaken and lose their protection. After that, the devils take the terrible sinners by the arms and drag them into the raging hell. In it, renegades burn for millennia, but never deserve forgiveness.
Imagine you burn your finger. The fire touched him only for a second, but what pain and anguish. And if these painful sensations continue for thousands of years. And all the time, without smoke breaks and lunch breaks. Do you understand now what it feels like for sinful souls? That's the same.
In recent centuries, a formidable fire-breathing snake very rarely appears on the surface of the earth. This can only be explained by a large amount of work. Previously, the population of the planet was small, and the church held back evil. But as soon as its influence on the minds weakened, malicious sinners began to multiply in huge numbers. So who is our hero after all - a snake or a dragon? Given the powerful intellect of this creature, it can be assumed that he is a snake. But the strength and power are more in line with the dragon. Therefore, let's say this: a powerful monster with the brains of a snake and the body of a dragon. This will be the most correct definition of the otherworldly essence, which is entrusted with the most important functions for the inexorable punishment of the universal evil that lurked in the souls of individual sinners.
