Israeli software developer Moran Tzur has created a unique service that allows users to leave SMS messages that, after their death, will be sent to other people: relatives, friends, acquaintances, colleagues. The message can be sent to the recipient at a predetermined time, or when the addressee is in a certain place, or even after some event. The service was named "SafeBeyond".
In the video below, Tzur explains how he came up with this idea. According to the programmer, he was only twenty-five years old when his father died of cancer. Moran got married a few years later, but he was very upset that the parent could not attend the wedding and give his son some advice on family life, or at least just wish him happiness. It was then that the Israeli realized that many people would like to receive messages from their deceased loved ones after a long time in order to feel a connection with their deceased loved ones.
The dead remind of themselves
Not so long ago, fate again presented Tsur a strong blow: his wife was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. The couple is now raising a three-year-old son, but it is obvious that he will lose his mother long before he comes of age. It was then that Moran realized that it was necessary to allow his wife to leave their child with many messages, which in the future would allow the boy to get to know his mother better, as well as to feel her love and care. Such a "digital legacy", according to the programmer, should be in demand among many people around the globe.
The Israeli hatched this idea for more than five years, but it was his wife's illness that made him take the job seriously. Zur is convinced that everyone should be realistic about their death. Someday all of us will leave this world, leaving behind people who will painfully miss us. And in this case, it will not be superfluous from time to time to remind loved ones of yourself, somewhat sweetening them, so to speak, the bitter pill of life.
However, this idea immediately had critics who claim that such "calls from the other world" can negatively affect the mental state of living people. After all, it is not for nothing that they say that the dead should remain dead, without interfering or interacting with the world of the living. At least, you can always demonstrate your love to your family during your lifetime, instead of entrusting this responsible business to soulless electronics. In addition, the deceased could always remind of themselves without any SMS, if they considered it necessary or were allowed by such higher powers. It's too arrogant to interfere in this process …
