British geneticists "confirmed" that Zana of Tkhina, known as the "Abkhaz Yeti", was half human and half monkey, writes The Times.
The team was led by retired Professor Brian Sykes of the University of Oxford. According to him, genetic research has revealed West African genes in Zana's descendants that do not belong to Homo sapiens. As a result, Sykes declared about Zana's "belonging" to a different subspecies of modern people.
In his opinion, the ancestors of Zana made an exodus from Africa more than 100 thousand years ago, and then settled in the Caucasus.

Earlier, Sykes managed to prove that the two-meter woman Zana, covered with thick hair, was an African slave who was brought to the Caucasus by Ottoman merchants in the 19th century.
