What goes through a person's head when he encounters a monster? Over the past two months, several Chicagoans can now confidently answer this question.

After a woman reported on April 7, 2017 about a 2-meter humanoid that looked like a huge flying mouse, which she saw while jogging in Lincoln Park, about 15 people were not afraid to step forward and report their own encounters with the winged inhabitants Chicago.

The mysterious creature, according to some eyewitnesses, bears a resemblance to the famous "Mothman" or "Moth Man", which was repeatedly seen at Point Pleasant (West Virginia) in the 1960s. But at the same time, others describe it as a cryptid in the form of a bat, and one of the researchers claims that it is a giant owl.

And although the description of the appearance of these creatures varies, there is one thing that unites all these cases - this is the feeling of fear and doom that all eyewitnesses experience, and the premonition of imminent tragedy.

Lon Strickler, a cryptozoologist, has received a ton of messages about the mysterious inhabitant of Chicago and, having drawn up an interactive map, is carefully examining each of them.

The last incident, which occurred at 10 pm on June 3, is considered by Strickler to be the most convincing. The couple, who wished not to be named, went for a walk in Lincoln Park after dinner and saw a strange creature.

Promotional video:

“It was a black humanoid with wide membrane wings that resembled the wings of a bat. Its height was about 2.5 meters, and its wingspan was more than 3.5 meters. The head seemed thinner than that of an ordinary person, and his entire body tapering downward in a cone. The legs were not visible, they were probably tucked under the body. The figure glided quickly and silently along the street to the east, and then suddenly soared into the night sky.

Both eyewitnesses informed Lon Strickler that they had a feeling of heavy foreboding and they could not shake their fear even an hour after the meeting.

Another interesting incident occurred on March 22nd with a local truck driver named Billy Bantz, who claims to have seen a “flying Batmobile” heading towards Chicago from the city of Cicero.

“Around noon, I was driving my semi-trailer and saw a large car sliding through the air over Route 55. It was definitely not a drone. He climbed higher and made two turns … I can tell that he glided like a bird. And then he went straight up, and I lost him in the clouds."

Banz believes that this incident affected his life. According to him, the more he talks about it, the more he gets into trouble. "My mom died three weeks ago … I don't even know what to think …" - like many people, Billy Bantz just wants to know what is happening in Chicago.

Messages continued to arrive in April and May, and now into June. Paranormal researchers Vance Nesbitt and Jennifer Ann went on a hunt for the monster, hoping to capture it on video. But for eight days of searching, nothing was found.

“Comparing all the dates, I can assume that his next appearance will occur on June 14th or 18th,” said Jennifer Ann.

Among the many opinions as to why these entities appear in the city, there is a common feeling for all Chicagoans that some kind of misfortune awaits the city in the future. Even Lon Strickler believes there is something sinister lurking behind the scenes of the city, and this is a bad omen:

“At the moment, I feel that this creature is closely related to future events. All eyewitnesses confidently stated what they saw and did not change their initial testimony. Each of them felt a sense of fear and foreboding of trouble, so I think this is a kind of warning."

There are hunters for each monster, but what is important is that the urban legend is already becoming a reality. All these stories, echoing among themselves, regardless of facts and truths, brought back to life the most hidden fears. Everyone loves a good monster story, as long as it is just a story.
