The world media is actively promoting the concept that the richest countries should completely abandon childbearing in order to save the planet. Behind what sounds like the crazy ravings of a conspiracy theorist, looms the figure of a particular puppeteer - one of the most odious US oligarchs with phenomenal influence. But what goals does he really pursue?
The English-speaking press and social networks are vigorously discussing a new slogan thrown in by the radical "green" - "Science has proven that children spoil the Earth." This, alas, is not a joke or even a metaphor. This is ideology.
The need to reduce the world's population is not a new topic for the West - it arose in pseudoscientific writings back in the 1960s. However, this is the first time it is being promoted so widely and so openly.
In 1968, Stanford University entomologist Paul Ehrlich published The Demographic Bomb. His work was promoted in the media, the author received, it seems, all possible awards and degrees, after which he became the speaker of numerous campaigns in defense of abortion, contraception and general reduction in fertility. His theory is based on the well-known idea of Thomas Malthus that overpopulation leads to famine, revolutions, civil wars and other disasters.
Even in 1968, revolutionary for the West, Ehrlich's views sounded rather bold. In order to reduce the birth rate, the author recommended that the world elites provide all citizens with free condoms, guarantee women free abortions at any stage of pregnancy, allow infanticide (killing newborns) and forced sterilization.
These measures closely resembled the monstrous methods used by the Germans during World War II to regulate the birth rate in the Jewish ghettos. But if they are not accepted, the author argued, a terrible future awaits our planet. In the 1970s-1980s, the growth of the world's population, according to Ehrlich's forecasts, should have led to a catastrophic rise in prices for food and resources. Mass starvation, epidemics, wars had to claim hundreds of millions of lives every year. Is forced abortion too expensive to prevent all this?
Since then, the number of people on Earth has doubled, exceeding 7 billion. None of Ehrlich's predictions for the West came true. But this does not stop him from writing new books, accusing humanity of occupying the planet and destroying its biological diversity. Moreover, he continues to propagate his ideas from the highest stands.

Six months ago, Catholic traditionalists were frankly angry that Ehrlich was invited to the Vatican for the conference "How to save the natural world on which we all depend?"

In 2006, environmentalist and future adviser to Barack Obama on science John Holdren demanded to recognize the "elementary but inconvenient truth" about the need to radically reduce the world's population.
But most actively this topic is being developed by the "bioethical" Travis Reeder. He accuses "irresponsible" parents that their children are contributing to global warming from birth. The only way to prevent climate catastrophe is to stop having children.
There is an interesting nuance in Reeder's theory. If the rest of the authors of horror stories about overpopulation operate with data on high fertility in poor regions of the planet (Africa, Southeast Asia, South America), then Reeder refers exclusively to the "golden billion." It is to these people who are prosperous by world standards that he advises to abandon childbearing "for moral reasons"
The fact is that in the rich countries of the West, every newborn, according to Reeder, becomes an advanced consumer, as soon as he is born. He consumes diapers, formula milk, toys, nipples, wet wipes, and so on. With every such purchase, the carbon footprint that an irresponsible child leaves in the atmosphere increases.
The carbon footprint is a pseudoscientific concept coined by green activists. It denotes the amount of harmful emissions that got into the atmosphere during the production, transportation and packaging of any of your purchases - from a chocolate bar to an SUV. Collectively, all of our carbon footprints are said to create a greenhouse effect, change the climate and lead to global warming. By giving birth to a child, parents create another carbon footprint by committing a crime against the planet. And the richer the family in which the child grows up, the greater his carbon footprint.

Reeder's concept is based on good old Malthusianism. He does not bother himself with scientific experiments and proofs. “I will not even consider the objections of those who claim ownership of the world's resources and dispute the possibility of global warming,” he writes in one of his articles. "97% of sane scientists are on my side."
Reader's opponents have a reasonable question as to how ethical his theory is. To this he replies that "our moral psychology simply has not developed yet to the level of the problems that we face today." Previously, the author writes, people lived in small groups, but now humanity is a gigantic global collective, where the old rules like "do not deceive" and "do no harm" simply do not work.
Reeder's newest text was published not in a blog, not in a dwarf publication for conspiracy theorists or in a party newspaper, but on the website of one of the largest media holdings in the world - NBC. Among other things, NBC is the oldest television station in the United States. It is now owned by Comcast, which is in turn owned by one of America's most notorious oligarchs, Brian Roberts.
Coming from a wealthy and religious Jewish family, Roberts inherited Comcast from his father. In 1989, when he was barely 30, he became CEO. By appointing relatives to the board of directors and senior management positions, and developing a pattern of numerous mergers and acquisitions, Roberts turned the small company into the leader of US cable television. And in the early 2000s, he began to actively lobby for the interests of his business in Washington.
At first he funded Republicans, then switched to Democrats, became Senator Barack Obama's "golf friend" and invested generously in his presidential campaign. Political analysts estimate that Roberts has donated more than $ 18 million to the Democratic Party over the years. It paid off: Obama's patronage and a hundred lobbyists in Washington allowed the media mogul to pull off two multi-billion dollar deals.
By 2013, Roberts had gradually bought 100% of the shares of the giant media holding NBC Universal, and a year later managed to get permission to acquire Time Warner Cable. In theory, he violated every possible antitrust law. Having bought up film studios, television companies, newspapers, Internet portals and united them into a huge holding under the Comcast umbrella, the tycoon practically monopolized the production and delivery of content. Some of Roberts' firms produce films, news and series, while others provide cable TV and the Internet to 33 million households in the United States. But the regulatory authorities and congressmen turned a blind eye to this.
Comcast has grown in value a hundredfold in a quarter of a century. Today it is valued at $ 165 billion in the market. In just a few years, Roberts became one of the main media moguls of our time and took 37th place on the Forbes list.
Comcast's NBC audience is billions of people around the world. Information power allows Roberts to impose his values on a huge audience, and his values are typical of a left-wing globalist. "Anti-white, anti-family, anti-Christian propaganda" - this is how American conservatives speak of them.
Bioethist Reeder's radical proposal not to give birth anymore fits perfectly into this agenda. Having appeared on the NBC website, the "bioethical" smoothly merges into the world information mainstream. This is no longer the ravings of a crazy ecologist, but a program text suggesting that the “golden billion” die out.
Conspiracy theorists love to gossip about the weird birth control programs funded by Bill Gates. They are frightened by the numerous NGOs fighting for the rights of national and sexual minorities, created with the money of George Soros. But in this case, no conspiracy is required. Brian Roberts, the richest media tycoon in the United States, has openly sponsored non-procreation propaganda among white people in Western countries.
This proposal is rational in its own way. Since the end of the Cold War, the need for a thriving middle class as a showcase for capitalism has disappeared, and now the class is facing hard times. And the richest people in the United States, who manage the main information flows, believe that it would be better for the middle class to die out altogether, giving way to disenfranchised and impoverished migrants - they are not so demanding and are quite ready to work for food.
The only question is how well the dying middle class has been trained by political correctness. Will he accept the prospect prepared for him humbly and joyfully, will he really give up the children in order to reduce the cost of labor - or will he still arrange a goodbye rearguard class battles?
