To date, the history of the appearance of these pyramids remains largely a mystery
An international team of scientists has announced that it will soon begin studying cosmic particles collected inside an Egyptian pyramid called Broken Line, which is estimated to be more than 4,600 years old.
As the head of the American scientific organization Heritage Innovation Preservation Institute Madi Tayoby explained, special plates were installed in the pyramid, with the help of which information about the muons in it was collected for a month. These are elementary particles that hit the earth's surface from the atmosphere, which are reflected by some surfaces and absorbed by others, reports the Associated Press.
Scientists emphasize that today all assumptions regarding the history of the construction of the Egyptian pyramids remain only theories, none of which has been proven one hundred percent. The study of muons, as experts hope, will help to confirm one of these versions, or, in any case, to clarify some of them.
The broken pyramid, which is also sometimes called "cut" or "diamond-shaped", received such designations due to the fact that it has an irregular shape. Another feature is the entrance not only from the north, like other pyramids, but also from the west. It is assumed that the pyramid was built more than four and a half millennia ago, during the time of Pharaoh Snorfu. Scientists do not exclude that this structure is the result of the first attempt to create a pyramid with smooth walls.
In the future, specialists who are currently studying muons from the Broken Pyramid plan to conduct a similar study in the famous Pyramid of Cheops, also known as the Pyramid of Khufu and the Great Pyramid of Giza. It is the largest pyramid in Egypt and the only one of the Seven Wonders of the World that has survived to this day.
