Video: Two theories for an unsolved Soviet mystery 2024, May

This version was put forward by the traumatologist of the Kyshtym city hospital Nikolai Tarasov

This assumption was not considered by any researcher of the fate of the Ural tourists who found a painful death on the slope of Mount Holatchakhl, which means "Hill of the Dead"

Neither Yeti nor Mansi

The tragedy at the Dyatlov pass is widely discussed on the pages of newspapers, on the air of central television. About 70 (!) Versions of various kinds have been put forward. Let us briefly recall what happened on the night of 1 to 2 February 1959. A group of skiers from the tourist club of the Ural Polytechnic Institute, led by an experienced tourist Igor Dyatlov, went on a hike in the north of the Sverdlovsk Region on January 23. For 16 days, the participants of the hike had to ski several hundred kilometers and climb the mountains Otorten and Oiko-Chakur. On February 12, they had to reach the final point of the route - the village of Vizhay, send a telegram to the institute sports club, and return to Sverdlovsk on February 15.

You know the rest. All nine people remained at the pass, which was later named after Igor Dyatlov.

The cause of death of healthy seven guys and two girls physically prepared for such routes has not yet been established. There are only assumptions. Among them are both frankly delusional and suggestive. From delusional - spies clinging to the group, who set young people, and at the same time themselves, under the machine guns of American (!) Paratroopers; love triangles that resulted in a bloody massacre; alien attack; Raging Bigfoot (Yeti). The versions that show hints of common sense include an avalanche (although due to the flatness of the surrounding mountains, the terrain is not avalanche-prone), testing of atomic weapons, launching missiles (which is unlikely - then the group would simply not be allowed into this area). Attacks on tourists by prisoners and the indigenous people of Mansi do not stand up to criticism. By the way, the Mansi were taken under suspicion first:they say, they decided to take revenge on the students for the desecration of the sacred area: next to the Mountain of the Dead is the Otorten hill - in translation, "don't go there." But it soon became clear that the Mansi did not worship these hills at all. They bypass these places as dangerous, in their opinion, since the Ice Age. Confused in conjectures, the then investigators, closing the case, sealed it with a mystical and indistinct conclusion: "The reason for the death of the students was a spontaneous force, which they were not able to overcome."sealed it with a mystical and indistinct conclusion: "The reason for the death of the students was a spontaneous force, which they were unable to overcome."sealed it with a mystical and indistinct conclusion: "The reason for the death of the students was a spontaneous force, which they were unable to overcome."

They were covered by a gas attack

And then no one paid attention to the phrase of the prosecutor of the city of Ivdel Vasily Tempalov, who was examining the area from a helicopter: “What can I say, there were rockets falling, there were craters all around, I'm an artilleryman. I don’t know what, or what”.

So, craters were found in the slope of the mountain facing the tourists' tent. But it is known for certain that no rockets were launched on that fateful night. And even if they beat the mountain, would this be a reason for nine, we repeat, young, physically and mentally healthy guys to cut open the tent and run away from it in panic half-naked? Moreover, it has been proven that the tourists' shelter was not damaged by anything other than the blades of knives.

But the funnels, even if covered with snow, are visible! Then how did they form, if not from outside influence?

“They were formed from the impact from INSIDE!” - it was with this phrase that Nikolai Vasilyevich Tarasov began our conversation. On my part, there was complete bewilderment: what is there, inside the mountain - a volcano, or what? It's funny: there are volcanoes in the Urals!

However, this version was put forward by a very serious person, capable of approaching every event with an innate scrupulous research streak. I remember how all football fans were skeptical about Nikolai Tarasov's promise to bring the team of Spartak veterans to the city. And he did it, because he doesn't throw words into the wind!

As soon as a wide discussion of the 54-year-old incident began, Nikolai Vasilyevich began to collect clippings from newspapers, monitor TV programs on this topic, and his son Igor tossed him Internet messages. He also considered each version through the prism of his own profession: what about what, but he knows firsthand about the origin of the injuries that killed the tourists.

- It all started with the fact that on March 8 I went to the village of Gubernskoye to put flowers on my mother's grave, - says Nikolai Vasilyevich, - and there is a lot of snow. He took three steps and fell knee-deep. And then the thought flashed: what force drove those poor students out of the tent and half-naked, barefoot forced them to run through the deep snow? I thought for a long time. It fell upon me on the night of April 28: then, on February 1, they suddenly felt a tremor of the soil, an underground hum, and then - something like a gas attack: a sore throat, a strong cough began. People began to suffocate …

The version of the earthquake, although it is unlikely, is understandable. And where did the gases come from?

- My version is that a sleeping volcano erupted! This also explains the light effects - flashes seen by many in early February, the release of the so-called "bombs" - pieces of lava or magma that solidify in the cold. With a high degree of probability, it can be assumed that it was they who cut off the tops of dozens of fir trees in flight and left burnt traces. Moreover, the "decapitated" trees were found far from the bodies of the dead.

Now with regard to gases … When a volcano erupts, sulfur dioxide is released. From what people run away headlong? From natural disasters - floods, tsunamis, earthquakes, avalanches, volcanic eruptions. Neither the first, nor the second, nor the third could have been. But a volcanic eruption with the release of a deadly sulfur dioxide gas is understandable.

There was no hope of salvation

- Sulphurous gas had different effects on tourists. Some died immediately. Georgy Krivonischenko and Yuri Doroshenko, who was considered the strongest of the group, died, most likely, from acute pulmonary edema. Both were found in their underwear by a cedar tree on the border with the forest. Fragments of their outerwear were on other tourists … These, others, having warmed themselves, tried to return to the tent. But, in addition to the gas attack, they were seriously injured. Most of the fractures of the ribs, the so-called fenestrated, are in Lyudmila Dubinina and Semyon Zolotarev. As a traumatologist, I can judge that such injuries are received under strong squeezing. As for Nicholas Thibault-Brignoles, he may have received a comminuted depressed fracture of the skull from a camera that was on Zolotarev's neck, which covered him from a flying boulder. I guess when they went down the slope, large stones rolled after them as a result of a local earthquake. Well, the gases did not leave them a chance for salvation: one and a half liters of blood was found in Dubinina's pleural cavity, and Zolotarev's - a liter.

But back to the eruption: the mountain has no crater, without which there is no volcano

- To begin with, volcanoes are divided into active, asleep and extinct. In this case, we are dealing with an awakened volcano. But it is not vertical, but lateral, the so-called parasitic.

But it's really strange that geologists, volcanologists and seismologists were not involved in the investigations

- You are ahead of my further reflections … To the list you have listed, I would also add the involvement of specialists from the countries where it shakes the most - Japan and China. Let them check the readings of the instruments at their seismic stations for February 1, 1959. I don't understand why this was not done right away.

Then how do you explain the foam from the mouth of some of the victims, and at the same time the unexpected color of the skin - orange-red or reddish-purple?

- It is best to ask a specialist about this (calls forensic expert Vitaly Avramov - Ed.) … In case of poisoning and frostbite, and then, remember, there was a 30-degree frost, there is a presence of hemorrhagic foamy fluid in the lungs, which is explained by toxic damage. The color of the skin is also caused by this.

Your "volcanic" version, like any other, has a right to exist. But why hasn't it been investigated after all?

- And who in the Urals thinks about volcanoes? And the fact that they were, follows from the warning names of the mountains "Don't go there" and "Hill of the Dead"! Obviously, hundreds of years ago, events took place here, in which neither atomic bombings nor rocket attacks could have been involved.

Could the tourists have escaped if they had not left the tent in panic: after all, it did not suffer?

- It's impossible. Asphyxiation requires you to immediately escape to fresh air. But the gas did not leave any hope of salvation. The guys were doomed. Unfortunately, the Dyatlovites were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Instead of an afterword

Nikolai Tarasov's version certainly does not claim to be the final truth. It only suggests another way to unravel the mystery more than half a century ago. Its oblivion means a repetition of what another pass will one day be called by someone's name. And further. Nikolai Vasilyevich is conducting his investigation at a difficult time for himself. One after another, court hearings are being held against him. This gives him the right to draw parallels: “There, on the pass, - heroism, courage, the struggle for life. Here is meanness and meanness. I hope for an objective court, which will give a legal assessment to the authors of the disgusting provocation in relation to me."

For reference

Volcanoes can have side or parasitic craters, which are located on its slopes near annular or radial craters. Often water accumulates in craters and so-called maars are formed. For some reason (nuclear tests on Novaya Zemlya, which took place from 1954 to 1990, are not excluded), the flow of gases together with magma literally knocks out the "plug" from the side vent.
