On the air of Radio "KP" a conversation about extraterrestrial civilizations and aliens with the missionary, writer Archpriest Oleg Stenyaev on the eve of the holiday of Christmas.

- Catholics have recently officially recognized aliens. In the Vatican magazine there was even an article "Aliens are my brothers!" There, the priest-astronomer unequivocally claims that other intelligent beings created by God can dwell in space. And in the Gospel of John the words of Christ are quoted: "In my father's house there are many abodes." What did the holy fathers think about this?

- The attitude to this issue is ambiguous. Saint Theophan the Recluse admitted that other forms of life could exist on other planets. But the famous American Orthodox preacher Seraphim Rose spoke about the possibility of the existence of spirits that surround the planet. They penetrate into our world and affect individuals or some life processes. In the church language, these are demons. They can take different forms, as they say, UFOs or green men.

By the way, Father Seraphim drew attention to the fact that these creatures usually come to unbelieving people and teach them strange things. For example, in California, there was a case when a farmer said that aliens came to him on a "flying saucer" and explained to him how to feed chickens properly. But does one have to fly hundreds of light years to do this? In my opinion, only demons can be so amused. In turn, Professor of the Moscow Theological Academy Alexei Osipov, a very authoritative person, said that from the point of view of Orthodox theology, there is no reason to talk about possible aliens.

- His arguments?

- First, there is no mention of extraterrestrial forms in the New Testament. Second, there were many people in the church who attained the highest degree of godlikeness, and none of them ever spoke about it. In addition, modern astronomy, moving far into space, has not yet discovered anything either. So opinions differ.

- Maybe they just did not know about the existence of other galaxies? In those days, they thought that the Earth is flat and stands on three elephants, and they stand on a turtle.

- Actually, Rose's father is our contemporary. Professor Osipov, thank God, is still alive. And that the Earth is round, the church always knew. This is stated in the Holy Scriptures in the Book of Job, written before our era. It says that the Lord sits over the earthly sphere (!).

The laws of god

- Are the laws of physics and chemical reactions the same for the entire Universe?

- The Scripture says: "For the Lord has the foundation of the Earth, and he established the Universe on them." That is, it says here that the same laws that operate on our planet, the entire Universe is established on their basis: the periodic table works the same everywhere. When the soil was brought to Earth from the Moon, nothing new was found. It's the same on Mars. After all, God is the Creator of not only our planet. He created heaven and earth. This is where the Bible begins.

- Speaking about the origin of the Earth, scientists put forward the theory of the explosion. How does religion explain this?

- Scientists have come to the need to recognize the beginning of the world, since there is such a thing as heat transfer. If the Universe existed forever, heat exchange would have been completed long ago. Life would be impossible. And we see: the world exists in a state of heat exchange - one body gives off heat to another. Scientists say that the impetus for the birth of the Earth was an explosion from some point, they say, there was incredibly compressed matter, which then exploded. The Bible describes this with the words: "And God said let there be light, and the light became a huge flash, and the beginning of the world."

Call from radio listener Victor:

- They say that Saint Matrona of Moscow received information from parallel worlds. How does the church explain this phenomenon? Maybe it was not without the intervention of aliens?

- Participation in the Holy Spirit, that is, in the divine hypostasis of the third person of the Holy Trinity, gives a person the opportunity to contemplate what a mere mortal cannot see. Saint Matrona and people like her - this is God's plan. The Lord gave a gift to this amazing woman. She was disabled from childhood, was blind from birth, but could feel and heal disabilities. Including spiritual. The Spirit of God guided her. So do not think that mother was an antenna in communication with aliens.

Call from radio listener Valery:

- The Bible says that God created the world in just six days, somehow this is incredible! Or am I missing something?

- The Hebrew word yom, which is translated as day, can mean 24 hours, 45 minutes, or one instant. From the Bible: "The Lord has one day, like a thousand years, and a thousand years, like one day." That is, all this is very relative. By the way, this quote shows that the Bible is the first book to say that time is relative.

- Returning to inexplicable phenomena and little green men. If they came to you personally, what would they say?

- First of all he crossed himself. Then he blew, spat and said: "Begone, Satan!" But, in my opinion, it is not the question of whether there is life on Mars that is important for us today, but whether we will preserve life on Earth? Life is precisely in the moral sense of the word. To comprehend why each of us exists in this world, where did he come from, where does he go? God created you with his love, summoned each of us from nothingness into existence. This must be appreciated and remembered. The gift of the sacred life is the most exclusive of all that exists. It is especially important to understand this on the eve of such a great holiday as the Nativity of Christ.
