34-year-old professional chauffeur Steve Lee, his wife Beth and their two sons have long dreamed of settling in the wonderful Black Forest, Colorado. Finally, the Lee family looked out for a spacious two-story log house, located in the most remote part of the forest.
The Lee family moved into their new ownership in May 1991, and the next year they bought a piece of land adjacent to the house.
“Once, having returned home,” says Beth, “it was as if we were on some noisy celebration: all the lights in the living room and the large bedroom were on, and overhead it was rumbled like a crowd of people were running on the roof. Meanwhile, there was no one in the house!"
The sons began to complain about the strange lights and bizarre shadows that flickered at night in their rooms. In the house, light bulbs turned on and off by themselves, household appliances turned on and off, and often a disgusting smell spread through the rooms, while everyone had a sore throat and watery eyes.
Steve decided that someone wanted to intimidate his family to force them to sell the house, and decided not to succumb to intruders. He installed a state-of-the-art security alarm system with all-round video cameras and sensors that respond to movement in and around the house. The system worked perfectly, alarms were heard more than once, but it was not possible to see anyone.
Over the next four years, this situation was repeated 62 times! Beginning in April 1993, officers from the El Paso County Police Department began investigations at Steve Lee's request and went to his property 45 times after the alarm went off. He regularly received light spots of unknown origin, bright rays of light, balls, luminous silhouettes of human figures and animal bodies in the pictures. Sometimes the mysterious light formations were visible with the naked eye, but in most cases only for a split second, so it was possible to see them well only in the pictures.

In the end, the couple decided that the strange events in their home were anomalous, and in early 1995 Steve sent some of the pictures and videotapes to the television studio that regularly aired the show "Visions and Ghosts."
The materials sent by the Lee couple were sent to Hollywood, where special effects master Edison Williams examined them. In the conclusion, transmitted to the television studio, he wrote that most of the light images captured in the photographs would be extremely difficult to create artificially, and some of them generally contradict all the laws of optics. After reviewing the report, the creators of Visions and Ghosts dispatched a film crew to Lee's home with Eko Bowdeen, a "ghost specialist" from Minneapolis.
Upon arriving at Lee's house, Bowdeen immediately determined that they had a very malevolent spirit in their living room. With the help of a special camera, it was possible to photograph in infrared light a ghost, which, according to Bowdeen, is "the culprit of everything that happens and considers himself the owner of this house."
She found that at least two dozen more ghosts live here and that "the level of activity of otherworldly forces in this house is extremely high."
“And the bedroom on the second floor,” Bowdeen said, “is full of perfume, and it’s impossible to rest in such a room.”
When they were filming a conversation that took place between Eko Bowdeen and Bat Lee in the kitchen at the table, the latter suddenly felt that her forces were leaving her and someone invisible was completely paralyzing her will. She asked to interrupt the interview and with great difficulty got up from the table. At the same time, Sherri, a member of the film crew, felt something as if penetrating inside her, and her breasts, arms and legs lose sensitivity and stiffen.
Seized with horror, she collapsed into a chair and, unable to control herself, burst into tears. She was carried out of the kitchen in her arms, and she regained consciousness only when she was far enough from home. Sherri believes that some otherworldly entity tried to take possession of her in Lee's house.
While both Bat Lee and Sherry were experiencing these strange events, the film crew recorded a burst of electromagnetic interference in the house. Shortly after the film crew returned to Los Angeles, Steve received several pictures they had taken. One of them clearly showed a narrow beam of light aimed directly at his forehead!
The "Visions and Ghosts" production team returned to Lee's home six months later. This time with them was Peter James - a renowned expert in the study of the paranormal. As soon as he got close to the house, James announced that he was feeling the effect of a powerful energy vortex. Examining the estate, he discovered a strong energy field throughout its territory, and also felt a pungent unpleasant smell.
While walking around the estate, James suddenly asked the owners of the house if the name Howard said anything to them. The couple were surprised by the mention of the name of their close friend, whom they had known for over ten years. As the Lee couple told James the details of Howard, the unpleasant "chemical" smell intensified.
It was believed that in 1960, Howard's son Jack died of a drug overdose. One of the boy's friends was a pharmacist, and the two of them were stealing drugs from the pharmacy. According to Peter James, he sensed that Jack had entered this world through a gap in the space-time field that had formed on the territory of Lee's estate in order to make contact with his father.
Jack wanted to explain to him that he did not die from drug poisoning, but was killed. James' message literally shocked Steve and Beth, since the psychic in no way could know about Howard's existence and about Jack's fate.
About six more months passed, and the Visions and Ghosts crew came to Black Forest for the third time. This time, Peter James focused his attention on the "busiest" place in Lee's house - in the large bedroom on the second floor. Many anomalous phenomena were noticed here near a small niche in the wall, as well as around an antique mirror on the dressing table.
Several psychics pointed to the niche as a "gateway" for communication with the other world, and the mirror and the space near it served as an inexhaustible source of ghosts floating in the air.
James assumed that the mirror reflected the faces of spirits entering the house through a niche in search of the vital energy they had lost. When several photographs of the mirrors were subjected to computer processing, they became clearly visible clusters of disgusting faces, gazing intently into this world from their "Through the Looking Glass".
Summing up the results of the investigation, James said: "Such a powerful energy is concentrated here, which I have not seen in all the years of studying anomalous phenomena."
An Indian shaman, also invited by the Lee couple to the Black Forest estate, said that there is a "rainbow vortex" on its territory, one of the three anomalous energy zones known on Earth, where our world is in direct contact with the other world. Two other zones are also on private property: one in Arizona, the other in London.

During this period, it was possible to capture multi-colored light reflections of a bizarre shape, the ghosts of an elderly lady, a little girl and a portly man, and all three were wearing 19th century clothes.

When asked why the Lee family would not move to another place, Beth replied: "We want to understand what is happening in our house, and we do not intend to leave it."
By the beginning of 1997, the search for reasons and ways to eliminate the "mysterious tricks" cost the spouses about $ 70,000. They have accumulated more than 3000 photographs and about 400 videotapes with recordings of all kinds of anomalous phenomena.
Among the specialists whom Lee invited for consultations were famous psychics, private detectives, church ministers, and respectable scientists.
The latter almost unanimously stated that the light phenomena filmed at Lee's house did not agree with generally accepted physical laws. At the same time, experts noted that they did not notice any attempts on the part of the owners to contribute to the emergence of mysterious phenomena taking place in their house.
Visited Black Forest Manor and Colorado Republican Senator Charles Duke. He arrived accompanied by journalists, with his own filming equipment, filmed several ghosts and many multi-colored light spots.
“I am convinced that strange things are really happening in this house that defy rational explanation,” the senator told reporters, “although I must admit that I came here with a great deal of skepticism. But what I saw is truly amazing. I, like Mr. Lee, still do not believe in any devilry, but I repeat once again - strange things are happening in his house, incomprehensible to the mind.
Senator Duke asked the FBI to investigate the case, but they told him that they only interfere in what is happening in cases where federal laws, and not the laws of nature, are violated.
