In order to see the lake, which is home to a prehistoric monster, you do not have to spend money on a ticket to Scotland to see the famous Loch Ness. It turns out that in Russia there are reservoirs in which relic animals are found. And perhaps the most accessible of them are Medvezhye Lakes, especially since most of the residents of the European part of Russia are not far from them: after all, they are located not in distant Siberia, but near Moscow.

There are a lot of lakes in the Moscow region, both large and small, but only the Big and Small Bear Lakes are famous for the fact that, according to eyewitnesses, there is a huge prehistoric monster in them. These two lakes are connected to each other by a channel, however, as local residents are sure, the monster lives in the Big Lake, whose area is about sixty hectares.

And although biologists believe that a giant prehistoric monster in a lake so insignificant in area and depth (up to six meters) is quite difficult to feed, and therefore they are skeptical about its existence, to which the locals answer that the monster is not looking for food at the bottom reservoir, and on the shore: it steals cows.

Actually, it is from this cattle that the Moscow Region "Nessie" leads its history. Once upon a time a cowshed was built on the shore of the lake. Two years after the completion of construction, the animals began to be driven to the shore for watering. And it was then that strange incidents began, the explanation for which is one: an underwater monster.

After each watering, the shepherds began to miss one, or even two or three cows. At first, people thought that the cattle was being stolen by one of the local residents, and then slaughtered and sold as meat. Investigators intervened in the case, but the investigation did not yield any results. The cows seemed to be evaporating, in any case, there were no tracks anywhere.

The mystery of the disappearance of animals was helped by a case. Once the attention of the milkmaids was attracted by a terrible lowing from the side of the lake. When they went to the shore, they were dumbfounded with horror: literally before their eyes, something terrible and incomprehensible was dragging a hefty cow into the lake under the water. After that incident, the shepherds, who began to carefully observe their cows, more than once became witnesses of how something dragged the cattle to the bottom of the reservoir.

Old-timers of these places talk about a monster with a big head living in the lake. Their descriptions say that it looks like a huge newt with an unusual fin on its back and a large, elongated mouth.

In 1999, the monster that emerged for a moment was photographed by Japanese researchers. And soon the Cosmopoisk expedition set out in search of him.

Scientists managed to establish that there are powerful underwater currents in the Big Bear Lake. Moreover, karst waters have pierced its bottom over time, forming numerous cavities and underwater caves underneath.

It was this discovery that became the main factor against the arguments of some scientists, who believe that in such a shallow lake, physically no more or less large creature can exist, especially one that can pull cows. But if under such a seemingly shallow body of water there is another underwater lake, which has a great depth and size, then it becomes clear where the monster can hide.

In 1526, the Ambassador of Austria to Russia Sigismund Herberstein wrote about the existence of terrible creatures in these places. The records he left testify that he personally saw huge reptiles here, which are fed by idolaters, reverently worshiping some kind of snake with four short legs, very similar to lizards, but with a black and fat body. The latter have a terrifying appearance when they crawl out to the food supplied for them …

But, not only Big Bear Lake is known in Russia. For example, the strange lake Elgygytgyn in Chukotka has long been considered a forbidden place by the indigenous population. Even today, shamans do not always risk approaching him. There are many legends about the lake, and quite scary ones.

One of the legends tells how a terrible huge fish was pulled out of the lake, whose vertebrae were the size of a human being, another tells that once upon a time a shaman with an ice head lived here near the water.

But most of all legends and tales exist about a monster similar to a fossil lizard with a huge mouth. The Chukchi call this monster Kalilga.

The lake has a surprisingly regular circle shape. Scientists attribute this to its meteoric origin. About three and a half million years ago, a giant meteorite weighing one hundred and fifty million tons fell on this place. And in the crater he knocked out a lake with twelve kilometers in diameter was formed. It is covered with ice for nine months a year, which does not have time to melt even in summer.

Many articles have been written about the fact that mysterious mirages sometimes appear over Elgygytgyn, and that people who happened to be nearby disappear without a trace. The first scientist who visited the coast of Elgygytgyn in 1934 was the famous geographer and cartographer, academician Sergei Obruchev. Subsequently, the "pundit" called the lake "an eerie and strange place." Kalilga was described in more detail by the Leningrad scientist A. Kondratov, who was one of the few who had a chance to see him.

At the beginning of the new millennium, not only Russian, but also foreign expeditions made frequent visits to the lake. They plan to find this waterfowl pangolin by probing the reservoir with an echo sounder. But since there are powerful karst deposits at the bottom of the lake, the work is somewhat difficult …

Researchers of anomalous phenomena have long known about a mysterious creature that lives in a deep lake near the village of Rettikhovka in the Chernigov region of Primorsky Krai. For the first time, two women were able to take a picture of the monster, who were relaxing on the lake with a company of friends. Suddenly they saw something massive and black floating almost on the surface of the water. Everyone present grabbed the binoculars. What they saw shocked them. Women say that this terrible sight still rises before their eyes. On the lake was a creature with tentacles, each as thick as a human hand. The researchers managed to organize an expedition to the lair of such a mysterious octopus, the participants of which took with them an echo sounder and a video camera. Luck smiled at them:scientists still managed to register a fairly large moving object at a depth of forty meters. Moreover, they were even able to see powerful tentacles protruding from the water half a meter.

Modern researchers have tried to somehow systematize the habitats of relict underwater monsters. After all, information about meetings with them periodically comes from completely different parts of the planet. Even if we assume the real possibility of the existence of these relict creatures in the vicinity of modern flora and fauna, then the version that they live in karst lakes seems to be quite reasonable. Scientists say that when in the karst depths of water bodies the population of those inhabitants that they feed on decreases, then after a certain time they rise a little higher, to medium depths, and begin to feed on fish. Ascending to the surface to replenish air and food supplies, the relic is in the field of view of people.

There are those who adhere to a more mysterious version. According to her, our planet is partially hollow from the inside. And there is a world hidden from human eyes with its seas, rivers and currents.

In 1924, the novel "Plutonium" was published by the father of academician Sergei Obruchev, the famous writer Vladimir Obruchev. He laid the foundation for Soviet science fiction. The novel is devoted to a journey deep into the cavity of the Earth. It traces the echoes of myths about Hyperborea, the South Pole, as well as about many races and pranarods located below the earth's surface.

And if this is true, then monsters emerge from the inner side of the Earth. Perhaps they are exiles who have fought off their own people, or maybe they are scouts looking for new territories to inhabit?

But still, the theory that the relics are inhabited by the ocean is much more plausible to many - vast expanses of water, where even such large monsters have enough room for both life and reproduction. In addition, the researchers discovered another pattern: almost all relic legends describe creatures similar to dinosaurs. But there is a discrepancy in this version: scientists date all the found dinosaur bones to a certain era. After this geological period, the remains of giant dinosaurs are not found.

There is another, almost fantastic hypothesis of the appearance of these terrible creatures on our planet. These are parallel worlds, from which portals open, and these animals, accidentally or on purpose, enter our world. Whether such "windows" from parallel worlds can open is a question, rather, to physicists, but adherents of this theory say that most often they open in places where the earth's crust is inhomogeneous, in meteorite craters, in areas of large tectonic faults.

There is evidence that it was in such places that people encountered strange natural phenomena.

In 1834, Dr. Andersen of the Australian Museum of Natural History concluded that there are no creatures on Earth that are not known to man. But only from the beginning of the twentieth century were such species as the maned wolf, African peacock and many others discovered. And now even scientists do not deny the existence of living beings unknown to us.

And who knows what other discoveries lie ahead for humanity. After all, always at the junction of some understatements and incomprehensible phenomena, of which there are still a lot on Earth, new discoveries await science.
