A large landslide that happened on January 8 or 9 on the beach of the New Zealand island of North showed the world ominous finds - a lot of human bone remains.

According to the NZ Herald, several local residents collected three bags of bones within a week, including bones from adults, children, and even babies. At the time of this incident, the beach and surrounding areas were closed to those who like to collect seafood after low tide.

It is not yet known what exactly these remains are, whether there is something criminal or the landslide touched the old and long-forgotten local burials.

The bones, collected in plastic bags, were handed over to the police. The police are now conducting an investigation into this. They are also going to invite an archaeologist from the Heritage Society of New Zealand to establish the dating of the remains and find out if the bones are ancient or the remains of modern residents.

However, another archaeologist has already stated that the remains look like they are more than 100 years old, that is, their owners lived until 1900. But so far these are only his guesses, since no analyzes have yet been done.

In any case, this event upset many local residents. It was a great moral shock for them to see the remains of people lying on the beach among algae and fish washed ashore.

According to the head of the local tribe, Liam Tapsel, people are urging to treat the remains with great respect and sensitivity, since this is possible the remains of their direct ancestors.
