The Japanese government has allowed scientists to genetically modify fertilized human eggs for scientific purposes and to treat congenital diseases.
The Japan Times magazine published an article in which it published the decision of the Japanese government regarding changes by scientists to the genomes of human embryos. A positive verdict was passed by the government council on bioethics.
The decision established that scientists have the right to make changes in the genetic modification of fertilized human eggs and embryos for scientific purposes and for the development of new methods of treating congenital diseases. In a clinical setting, it is still prohibited to use methods of changing embryos, since no one knows how this will affect a person and his future offspring. For non-medical purposes, tampering with a person's DNA will be a problem, such as building muscle or changing eye color.
For the first time, scientists from China announced the possibility of changing the genetic modification for embryos, they intended to remove the HIV genome from the human body, but at the moment they have no success in this field.
