The most disgusting form of magic is necromancy. There are different ways of communicating with the dead, with spiritualism being the most harmless of them. Many religions do not deny that the dead can be alive and share information with them.
Necromancy, as the ability to bring the dead back to life, refers to black magic. Its main purpose is considered to be communication with deceased people, but the possibilities of necromancy are not limited only to this. Freed from the shackles of the flesh, the spirit gains the ability to look into the future, and an experienced sorcerer can make the ghost share this information.
Possessing secret knowledge, the dead can indicate the location of treasures, tell about the life of ghosts and demons. They can also tell you how to start contacting these representatives of the afterlife. Some people equate spiritism and necromancy, although the difference between them is great.
The dangers of necromancy
The inept use of black magic can have dire consequences. The ritual of necromancy attracts and concentrates streams of negative energy around the magician. Attracted unfriendly entities may not want to return back to the otherworldly dimensions. Therefore, necromancers and their assistants can attract various kinds of negativity into their lives - illness, failure, or even death.
During the ritual, the necromantic magician opens the door between the worlds. But even an experienced sorcerer does not always manage to reliably close it at the end of the ceremony. The summoned entity can take over the physical body of the magician, hence the numerous stories of demonic possession. It should also be noted that the otherworldly entity is extremely reluctant to leave the body of its victim.

How the ritual works
Nine days before the start of the terrible ritual, the characters put on shrouds and ceremonial clothes, which they do not take off until the end of the action. For all participants in the ritual, it is necessary to read prayers for the dead. During the call of the dead, it is forbidden not only to approach women, but even to look in their direction.
In the menu of a necromancer preparing for the ritual, there is dog meat and black bread baked without using salt from non-yeast dough. All these unappetizing delicacies are washed down with unfermented grape juice. The mystics give explanations regarding the selection of dishes described.
The dog identifies the goddess of the dead and crossroads, the patroness of witches and sorcerers - the terrible Hecate. An uninitiated person cannot look at her, otherwise it is easy to go mad with inexpressible horror.
Salt is a natural preservative that does not allow decomposition, and therefore the natural course of death. Bread made of non-yeast dough and unfermented grape juice became symbols of a spirit without shackles of flesh, lifeless dust of the earth.
Also, the last ingredients are analogues of bread and wine for communion. But the necromatic sacrament presupposes a connection with horror and hopelessness. When all this is done, the sorcerer "tunes in" to the wave of fear and death, so that it would be easier to establish contacts with the summoned spirit.
When nine days have passed, the summoner and his entourage go to the grave. The time of the ritual must be observed: five minutes after sunset, or between midnight and one in the morning. The time was not chosen by chance, it symbolizes the beginning of a new life.
The grave mound is necessarily outlined with a protective magic circle. The people participating in the ritual light torches, burn mixtures of herbs, which include:
- Opium;
- Mandragora;
- Belena;
- Hemlock;
Aloe wood;
- Saffron.
After that, the grave mound and the coffin are opened. The summoner touches the corpse three times with his staff and orders it to rise. There are several options for spells to revive a simple corpse or suicide. After reading the spells, the body is dragged out of the coffin, laid with its face to the east.
A bowl containing wine, mastic, and sweet butter is placed to the right hand of the recovered corpse. All this is ignited, after which the soul moves into the body provided to it. In the conspiracies of the necromancer, the principle of the stick and the carrot is clearly traced, that is, in the case of obedience, a reward is promised, and in case of disobedience, the threat of hellish torture.
After reciting the conspiracy three times, the soul usually agrees to settle in the provided body for a while. The revived dead man hardly gets to his feet. The dead man gives answers to the questions of the wizard who summoned him in a barely audible voice, so some necromancers prefer to select a recently deceased person for their experiments.
The reward of the deceased for the truthful answer to the questions posed is the obligation of the necromancer to make sure that the soul of the defendant is no longer disturbed. Therefore, the final act of the ritual is the burning of the excavated corpse. Alternatively, if it is impossible to burn, then the body is buried in lime, thereby protecting the soul from new magical calls.
Ancient necromancy
Necromancy rituals have been held for a long time. It is reliably known that eminent Roman military leaders and their descendants resorted to similar rituals to achieve their goals. One of the famous necromancers was Sixtus Pompey, the son of one of the great triumvirs.
Sixtus Pompey decided to resort to necromancy to find out his fate. In this, a well-known necromancer, Erichto, agreed to help him. This woman was said to be friendly with the demons of the underworld. Erichto could often be found in the cemetery, where she loved to steal fragments of flesh, bones, pieces of human skin and funeral robes from graves.
For her work, the witch demanded a fresh human body, since the dead are decomposing, respectively, their speech becomes illegible. Her order was carried out. Further, the old manuscripts describe the hideous rite itself. The area was chosen dark, in the shade of a yew grove. The sorceress cut open the chest of the deceased and poured the contents into it in the following composition:
- Uncooled menstrual blood;
- Saliva of a bitch suffering from rabies;
- Lynx intestines;
- The cut off hump of a hyena fed with cadaveric meat;
- Snake skin;
- Leaves of unknown plants, previously spat on by a necromancer.
Then the appeal was read. The ghost resisted, did not want to come, but Erichto threatened him with the terrible torments of Hell. And then the body revived, although it seemed stiff. The corpse answered all questions, the remains were burned.
