History is reluctant to share its secrets, but an American farmer from Georgia was lucky to have recently discovered a strange and mysterious artifact. As an avid collector, he immediately realized that he had found another unique item to add to his collection of artifacts atypical in North Georgia.

Jackson County, Georgia, where the farmer lives, is famous for archaeological sites along the tributaries of the Chattahoochee River, which flows into the Gulf of Mexico. One of them is an ancient unique structure consisting of four concentric earthen circles, the largest of which is about 90 meters in diameter.

No less unique, recently found seven-inch black basalt stone weighs only 652 g. This mysterious artifact has a different shape when viewed from different angles: a bird, a face profile, etc. In addition, some symbols are engraved on its surface.

An attempt to interpret them correctly stumbles upon difficulties caused by the difference in perception and interpretation. The brain interprets everything, sorting out huge amounts of information accumulated by a person. This is a simplified explanation of a more complex psychological phenomenon known as Pereidolia, which explains why different people see different things.

If ten people ask what is a curved line on a stone (see photo below), then we get ten different answers (profile of a person's head, mustache, mouth or nose), but if they do not know that the spiral shape symbolizes a Mesoamerican deity, they they won't see him.

Obviously, this stone is related to the Mesoamerican civilization. Similar symbols are engraved on the famous Mayan stone artifact, which, along with seven others, was recently returned to Guatemala after being smuggled into the United States. Both stones have oval and V-shaped notches, which are interpreted as "a snake swallowing an egg."

Perhaps the most compelling evidence of links between the ancient peoples of Georgia and Mexico comes from the European Charles de Rochefort, who went on an expedition to the southeast of America in the 17th century. Referring to his conversations with the indigenous people, he writes: “The Apalachians boasted that they formed their colonies on the long route to Mexico, and to this day show the great route by land. The inhabitants of the country called them Tlatuici, which means "highlanders". The Apalachians traveled to the Gulf of Mexico or New Spain along the river that the Spaniards call the Rio del Spirito Santo (Mississippi)."

The path that Rochefort wrote about is called the Great White Path in Georgia. This ancient road, built of crushed sea shells, sand and clay, passed through Jackson County and led to the Atlantic coast. According to Rochefort, one person claimed that people on camels came from the north to Georgia through narrow mountain gorges!
