A former NASA employee and now a researcher of anomalous and para-normal phenomena, Michael Cohen presented the world with a video, proving, in his opinion, that prehistoric, or, scientifically, relict, animals still exist.

Russian mammoths live contrary to textbooks

The video, taken somewhere in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, shows a large creature covered with brown hair, wading through a stormy river. It is very reminiscent of a hairy elephant, or rather, a mammoth, since, if desired, you can distinguish something like a trunk in it. There are also huge tusks.

According to some reports, the author of the video is a Russian citizen (his name is not disclosed), a civil engineer who came to Chukotka to work on laying roads. During one of the explorations of the area, he witnessed a miracle of nature - a living mammoth.

Michael Cohen states that the likelihood of the existence of mammoths in Siberia does exist. In his opinion, the poorly explored territories of the region may be quite suitable habitat for these ancient and considered extinct creatures.

"It is possible that some species considered extinct, in some places are still represented by small populations," - quotes the words of Cohen, The Daily Mail.

The researcher believes that the Russian government may know about the existence of mammoths, but hides it. After all, if it becomes known that these ancient animals still live in Siberia, Cohen explains, the plans of the authorities to develop the region will be in jeopardy.

As you know from textbooks, the last herd of woolly mammoths lived on Wrangel Island in the Arctic Ocean five thousand years ago - during the era of the construction of the Egyptian pyramids and Stonehenge. And today there are no "hairy elephants" on Earth, according to scientists.

At the same time, throughout Siberia to the Bering Strait, there are stories about the shaggy colossi up to 5 meters high and weighing up to 12 tons that have survived to this day. More detailed information about this can be found in the special issue of "Anomalous News" "Relic Zoo of Russia" for December last year.

In particular, local historian P. Gorodtsov, in the "Yearbook of the Tobolsk Provincial Museum" for 1908, reported from the words of an old hunter from the village of Zabolotye that next to Tobolsk, the following: "The mammoth exists on Earth and still, only in small numbers: this animal now very rare. By its external appearance and body structure, it resembles an elk, but its size significantly exceeds these animals: the mammoth is five to six times larger than the largest elk …"

And one of the last press reports that Russian geologists in Siberia saw living mammoths appeared in the late 70s. “It was the summer of 1978,” recalls the foreman of the prospectors S. Belyaev, “our artel was washing gold on one of the tributaries of the Indigirka River. One morning, when the sun had not yet risen, a dull stamp was suddenly heard near the camp. We jumped to our feet and stared at each other in surprise. As if in response, a splash of water was heard from the river. We, grabbing our guns, stealthily began to make our way in that direction.

When we rounded the rocky ledge, our eyes were presented with a downright incredible picture. In the shallow river there were about ten, God knows where they came from … mammoths. The huge, shaggy animals slowly drank the icy water. For about half an hour, we gazed at these fabulous giants as if spellbound. And those, having quenched their thirst, ceremoniously one after another went deep into the forest thicket …"

The Lagarflout worm pretended to be a piece of net. Not to be identified

However, skeptics treat all these stories with irony and sarcasm. They have the same attitude towards the video presented by Michael Cohen. Categorically questioning its authenticity, numerous commentators state that the "Chukchi hairy creature" is very reminiscent of a modern inhabitant of Russian forests - a brown bear. As for the tusks and the trunk, they are not at all, but a large fish, which the clubfoot, it seems, managed to catch and which he carries in his mouth to eat on the shore.

By the way, a similar discussion simultaneously unfolded around another, no less sensational video, also recently filmed "in the land of snow and frost"

Icelandic amateur cameraman Hjort Kjerulf managed to capture on the Jokulsa i Fjötsdal river, which flows near the town of Hrafnkels, which he claims is a real monster.

The footage, first shown by Icelandic broadcaster RUV and then posted on YouTube, clearly shows a long, dark object resembling a snake.

Local cryptozoologists immediately announced that Nessie's Icelandic brother, the Lagarflout worm, which has been living in the lake of the same name since 1345, was caught on the film.

According to legends, the monster reaches 91 meters in length, it has many humps and it sometimes crawls out onto land. Some saw him curled up on the ground, others crawling through the trees. Moreover, apparently, the monster is able to travel long distances - numerous eyewitnesses claim that they noticed him 30 kilometers from Lake Lagarflout.

As in the case of the "Chukchi video", Icelandic critics immediately attacked Hjort Kjerulf's material, foaming at the mouth today, claiming that the video was not filmed a legendary worm, but an ordinary piece of a fishing net. It even seems that they, in principle, do not need a living Lagarflout worm …
