Elaine Latrum hated her bedroom door at night. “As far back as I can remember, it was always very uncomfortable for me to sleep facing this door, so I always preferred to sleep with my back to the door. Then I realized that there was something that was constantly watching me."
When Elaine was 6 years old, her family lived in a house in Kansas City, Missouri, and during the day the girl felt quite normal in the room. But at night everything changed.
“I remember one day I woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible feeling. It wasn't exactly fear, but there was something that made you feel anxiety all over your body and gave you goosebumps. And I didn't want to look at the door, because he was standing there in the doorway."
He was a small boy, about the same age as Elaine, with dark hair and an antique pince-nez over his eye. He looked at the girl from the doorway, and then he went up to her and sat down on the end of the bed.
“I don't remember if he talked to me, but I didn't want to talk to him. I just obeyed my instinct and turned to the wall, and then quickly fell asleep."
In the afternoon, Elaine told her mother about what she had seen, and she told her that maybe it was her grandfather who came to her. But Elaine thinks it was someone else, something that shouldn't be there. And she saw him very realistically, as an ordinary person, and not as an imaginary friend.
Many people say that young children can see things that adults cannot see. They say that children have access to the so-called other world, from where ghosts, invisible friends and little fairy-tale people come from. It is often possible to hear how a child looks with interest where there seems to be an empty space, but the child looks as if he sees something real there.

And no one knows what it is, because children themselves hardly talk about such things, and when they grow up, they simply forget much of their childhood and of course can no longer see the world of spirits.
Diana Davis lived in Pennsylvania as a child, and when she was visiting her aunt's house, in the yard one evening she noticed that someone was standing nearby. “I was three then and it looked like a shadow of a man. It looked at me with curiosity as I played."
The whole family of the girl was in the house that evening and she was alone in the yard. The dark figure came closer to the child, but when the girl looked at him, the creature seemed to be frightened by her and began to leave, and then the girl spoke to him “Stop, stop, who are you? Do you want to play?.
Diana ran after this creature, and it quickly moved away from her. “I followed him until it slipped between two trees over the fence and disappeared. It was probably a creature from another dimension or a ghost,”says Diana.
In the 2000s, Kim and Mike Smithmeyer got stable jobs at a Ford engine factory, bought a house in nearby Liberty, Missouri, and in 2003 they had twins Dan and Randy. The life of the family was calm and happy. But everything changed when something terrible entered their lives and it was connected with their child.
“It first happened in 2006, when the twins were three years old,” says Kim. “I stood on the top floor and held Dan in my arms. Then he looked at the stairs and said: "Mom, who is going down the stairs there?" I looked there, but no one was there. “Kid, I don't see anyone there, but what do they look like?” I asked.
But the child did not say anything to her, however, he continued to look closely at the stairs and his eyes moved, as if he were following someone who was there and moved. Then he turned to my mother and said that "They are gone."
Kim quickly forgot the incident, especially since for four whole years everything was calm again. When the twins were seven years old, Dan's behavior was so disturbing that he was diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and a psychological disorder.
Dan increasingly threw angry tantrums, he was a bully and did not obey. Kim, as a punishment, sent him to the room and asked why he behaved so badly. And one day the boy broke down and said, "I am very tired of the voices that tell me to do bad things."
“What do you mean?” His mother asked him. And the boy looked down at his hands and said, "I don't want to repeat this, because these are bad words." “You can trust me if you feel bad. You can tell me everything. " - said Kim. And then Dan said, "The voices are telling me to kill you."
Kim was completely shocked by his words. "Did they tell you to kill me?" she asked. "Yes mom". "Did they say anything else?" "Yes. To hurt the cat, and then the same thing to my brother."
Excited, Kim got to her feet and said that she would go and call her father. When Mike entered the room, Kim was sitting with her son on the bed and Dan was sitting on her lap. And then Dan said loudly "I don't want to do this!" “Did someone tell you something again?” Kim asked him. "They told me to cut off this bitch's head," Dan said in a low voice.
“I was terrified. Then Dan said that the voices told him that they had killed Jesus. I couldn't understand where he got all this from, we never watched horror films."
The next day, Kim took her son to a psychiatrist and Dan behaved all day like a normal normal and calm child. At the appointment, it was decided that Dan might need medication if his condition worsened. Dan visited his grandmother over the weekend and everything was fine there too. But when he returned to his house, things got bad again.
“He couldn't stay in his room and became nervous again, and then he asked to sleep with me and said he didn't want to sleep in his bed. Then, although I felt like a complete fool, I seriously began to talk to the house. I told them to leave our family alone, and especially asked them not to frighten my children."
It seems like it worked. At least the story of Kim and her twins ends there.
