Some scientists believe that humanity as a biological species has entered a crisis phase of its development. Homo sapiens stands at a crossroads: either begin to disappear from the face of the earth under the pressure of a rapidly deteriorating natural environment, or transform internally, that is, develop extraordinary abilities.
Humanity at fatal line
Of course, we will hold out for some time (unless we destroy ourselves), but our development is moving more and more rapidly towards a certain fatal line, the “point of no return”, when the human body finally runs out of internal reserves that allow us to adapt to the deteriorating environment, and pathological processes will become irreversible. That is, we will begin to disappear as a biological species.
There are many reasons for such fears. In the last 100 years alone, the state of the environment has changed dramatically. Forests are being cut down, and industry is growing at a rapid pace. Already, 90 percent of all energy is generated from the combustion of oil, gas, coal, firewood and various waste. As a result, 40 billion tons of oxygen is burned annually - a fourth of what the planet's vegetation gives. Tens of millions of tons of ash, oxides of sulfur, nitrogen and other harmful substances enter the air around the planet every year; on average, about 10 million tons of oil are poured into the oceans due to accidents. All this causes irreparable damage to the animal and plant world and, of course, to the person himself, who is their integral part. The content of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increases alarmingly, which keeps it warm. Calculated,that if the average annual temperature on the Earth rises by two degrees (and everything goes to this), then the level of the World Ocean can rise by 60 meters. Many coastal cities and even entire countries will be under water.

But a person is no longer able to give up the comfort that factories, factories, power plants, cars, railways, airplanes, radio electronics and so on provide him with. He no longer cares about the fact that he was born to live in a completely different natural environment. And as a result - abnormal development of the body, weakening of the sensory organs, obesity, cardiovascular diseases, stress, depression and much more. Chemistry and experiments with the genomes of animals, plants, and even man himself make a significant contribution to all this, and it is impossible to predict the consequences of such experiments. For example, the use of food reagents that extend the shelf life of food has already led to the fact that the bodies of the dead have ceased to decompose in the ground! And these are still flowers, berries will be ahead,when all the unfavorable changes in the human body are inherited, leading to deformities and opening the way for hitherto unknown diseases.
Of course, the option with a "point of no return" does not suit us. Who wants to imagine that in the distant future completely different intelligent creatures will be careful, as modern paleontologists do, to clean our fossilized skeletons with spatulas and brushes, wondering at their ugly appearance?

Earthlings have a chance
The way out can be a radical change in the inner essence of people, which will allow them to get out of the "cap" of the environment, to rise above it. The development of superpowers in a person leads to such a transformation: mastering clairvoyance, telekinesis, levitation, the ability to control the processes in your physical body and freely move in the astral, and so on, which is now available only to very few.
The number of people who really (and not imaginary!) Possess some of the known superpowers, at all times was approximately the same: one or two people per 100 thousand. Nevertheless, many Theosophists hold the belief that these abilities are potentially inherent in each of us. They manifest themselves in stressful situations, in moments of emotional turmoil, in the ecstasy of prayers, with sudden insights. And some even believe that we, without noticing it, use our superpowers almost daily throughout our lives.
Recently, specialists have appeared who are convinced that all this can be mastered by oneself and even taught to other people, only one has to work daily and purposefully. After all, the blind learn to see without the help of their eyes, developing some other, unconventional way of seeing, in which wave signals coming from surrounding objects are captured directly by the brain. Or take the so-called sun-eaters, who use sunlight instead of food. Most of them have acquired this amazing ability after grueling, sometimes deadly training. There are also known quite effective exercises that develop intuition, allowing you to regulate physiological processes in the body, to heal without the help of drugs; there is evidence that someone has learned to "see" objects through obstacles (from the next room, for example);“Hear” other people's thoughts and the like. The most interesting thing is that the superpowers acquired by a person after a long and hard work on himself, to some extent, are passed on to his children, at least, mastering all kinds of exotic skills is given to them a little easier than their ordinary peers.
Professor C. Burnett (England), who was dealing with this problem, expressed the opinion that humanity really has a chance to evolve over time into a community of superhumans. If we assume, he writes, that the population of the Earth (or a significant part of it) from childhood will begin to lead a healthy lifestyle, consume healthy food, and most importantly, do exercises every day that develop superpowers in a person, then new properties will gradually be transmitted from generation to generation, strengthening and consolidating. In the end, the moment of a qualitative transformation of humanity will come. According to Burnet, this can happen in five to seven thousand years, that is, in an incredibly short time by evolutionary standards.
Is the superhuman breed already bred?
But the point is that we do not have these five thousand years. The point of no return is too close. We do not know what will happen to nature, to the planet, to the human community and to man himself in 100 years. Based on historical experience, one should think that in 100-200 years Homo sapiens will face problems much more serious than the current ones. Nature itself will put him on the brink of survival. And then (and most likely - much earlier, maybe in the coming decades or even years), there will be a temptation to endow a person with superpowers by interfering with his genetic apparatus, to artificially breed a breed of supermen. Already now there is evidence that genes responsible for telekinesis and clairvoyance have been found. Nobody knows what this can lead to. The genetic code is Pandora's box, opening which,you can make humanity happy, or you can let the demons out. After all, we are talking about abilities, the possession of which puts the subject to an unattainable height, makes him, in fact, inhuman. It is no coincidence that the Creator, laying extraordinary properties in people, made sure that they were in a latent state, were inaccessible for conscious use. Supernormal abilities presuppose, first of all, a high moral and ethical level of their bearer. But with the level of morality that dominates in human society now, one cannot expect anything ideal in this regard from genetic mutant superhumans. Rather, on the contrary: they will try to turn the rest of the world's population into their slaves.
In fact, experiments with the genetic code aimed at enhancing the extraordinary abilities of a person do not seem to threaten humanity in the near future, at least at the official level. Nevertheless, judging by some evidence, superhumans possessing absolutely phenomenal capabilities have already appeared among us. These are not aliens, but people who only know how, for example, to move objects without touching them; hear other people's thoughts; to influence the consciousness of others so that they do not notice someone's presence and obey mental orders.
From what laboratories were these supermen released, why do they hide and live apart, who directs them, what goals do they (or their creators) pursue? We do not yet have answers to all these questions.
