This story about the inexplicable, creepy and still unsolved murder of a dysfunctional family near Moscow was told by a former investigator who personally dealt with this case. These 3 photographs, taken by his grandson, show some of the locations where the events described below took place.
It happened back in 1991. An alarming call came to Russian law enforcement officers from an extremely unpleasant house where alcoholics, drug addicts, beggars and other people from the social bottom lived. As you might guess, someone was constantly robbed, raped and killed there, so the police are already accustomed to frequent visits to this place. Nevertheless, what happened that time stood out strikingly against the background of other local crimes.
Terrible murder in the apartment
In one of the apartments, a dead family was found, consisting of a single mother, as well as her 7-year-old daughter and a one-year-old boy. More precisely, at first it was believed that the boy was also killed. An old neighbor who made this terrible discovery and almost got a heart attack told the guards of the law that the woman drank deeply and took dubious men to her place all the time. The girl was actually a homeless child; she never went to kindergarten or school. How the baby survived in such conditions was a real mystery.
The door of the apartment was ajar, thanks to which a curious neighbor found mutilated bodies inside. The tenants died at least 2 days ago. At first glance, it looked like domestic murders, albeit with excessive cruelty. There were many stab and cut wounds on the corpses of the mother and daughter, but the expert immediately determined that the unfortunates were stabbed after death.
The woman was killed in the kitchen, there were many signs of a struggle. On the table there was a bottle of expensive vodka and various already perishable delicacies, which did not really fit into the environment. The girl was stabbed to death in her bed. As for the baby, he was nowhere to be found. The existence of a baby is confirmed only by the words of the neighbors and the presence of an old crib in the apartment. Moreover, this woman has never been seen pregnant.

Mysterious woman visitor
The refrigerator was bursting with expensive food and imported alcohol, and the freezer contained cash, impressive by the standards of those times. Where could all this have come from such a poor family? Naturally, the investigator immediately linked the two murders and the abduction of the alleged baby to the presence of this luxury and a large sum of money in the apartment.
A survey of other residents of the entrance made it possible to clarify several interesting details. The murdered citizen was indeed very popular with men and almost always kept her door open for them. At the same time, in the past few days, a strange individual often visited her: bald, of indeterminate age, dressed with a needle. Naturally, such people were very rare guests in such places. Anyone who managed to exchange a few words with a stranger claimed that the man had a very strange manner of speech. He spoke pretentious, old-fashioned, but very polite - even with the most notorious drunkards and dirty bums, never emphasizing his superiority to them.
A fingerprint examination and a thorough search of the apartment showed nothing. But the medical examiner, when he took care of the bodies, was amazed at their condition. All bones, except for the skulls and cervical vertebrae, appeared to be crushed by many blows, although this was physically impossible to perform. A version was put forward about the use of concentrated hydrofluoric acid, but it was quickly discarded. To begin with, the acid had to corrode all other tissues in order to get to the bones, and here there were no burns outside and there were no even bruises - only a lot of stab wounds.
A new round of sinister business
Soon there was an unexpected call from one of the victims' neighbors. He told the police that he saw the same man entering the territory of the nearby old boiler room. The investigator immediately took two operatives and went there. All doors at the entrance to the boiler room were in fact open. Inside, a staff of only two women showed up. They were noticeably nervous and generally did not behave very adequately, as if they were frightened by the appearance of the police. The workers made a caricatured answer to all the questions, and it became extremely obvious that they were lying.
Among the dampness and rust in an unused part of the building, a clean undershirt was discovered, thrown by someone into the interweaving of pipes. They called for help, searched the entire building and the surrounding area, but found nothing. The employees of the boiler house were dragged around by the police for a long time, they were seriously checked, but they could not get anything out of them. So the case stalled for some time, since the law enforcement officers had nowhere to dig.
Finding a baby from a murdered family
And then, about a month later, the same pensioner who found the corpses suddenly called the police and said that from behind the door of the sealed apartment where the murders took place, a child's cry was heard. It was here that the investigator and his assistants already fully felt the surrealism of what was happening.
The apartment was opened, and a baby was indeed found in the crib. Only he did not have both eyes. There were no traces of blood anywhere, and it became clear that the boy's eyeballs were surgically removed. The child did not have any other injuries or pathologies. It is not difficult to predict his further fate: the infrequent was placed in a children's hospital, then sent to a baby's house.
This case remained unsolved. The investigation suggests that the child was bought from a drinking woman by illegal organ dealers. Nevertheless, many unresolved issues remain. And have any answers been found in this case?
Who was the well-dressed man visiting the alcoholic? Why did the alleged perpetrators kill the woman and her daughter? For what purpose did they need to mutilate the bodies? Why and how were the bones of the corpses shattered? For what reason was a large amount of money left in the apartment? What role do the boiler house and its employees play in this story? Where did the deceased get the baby if no one saw her pregnant? How and why did the intruders return the kid without eyes to the sealed apartment?..
No wonder they say that reality is often stranger and more fantastic than any fiction. Someone will decide that this nightmare story smacks of pure mysticism. And someone, perhaps, will use logic and try to explain these events from a rational point of view, tying all the details together. Unfortunately, our law enforcement officers failed to do this in the 90s. Probably because this case did not resemble any one that was already perfect and uncovered …
