Death is the only experience that is ultimately comprehended by absolutely all people on Earth. This circumstance gives rise to a very special attitude and interest in the phenomenon of the end of life, scientists say.
In Israel, researchers from the Hadassah Medical Center organized a survey involving 264 people who had experienced clinical death. According to the authors of the work, their respondents, describing their near-death feelings, were mostly of the same type in their answers. It turned out that many people see some moments of their life, including those that they considered forgotten long ago - for example, from childhood.
According to scientists, this process may be due to the strongest psychological stress and abnormal electrical activity of the brain, which is "trying to survive." At the same time, the zone responsible for memories is also activated.
Science has long believed that the death of a person does not mean a one-time cessation of the work of all organs of the body. Some physiological functions continue to be performed for minutes, hours, days and even weeks after death, which is usually stated along with the fact of cardiac arrest - this is more and more evidence.
