The man who was crushed by a red tractor weighing nearly one and a half tons claims that two daughters saved him from death. The teenagers found the strength to lift the hellish machine.
Jeff Smith, from Lebanon, Oregon, was trying to uproot a tree stump in his garden when his mud-smeared boot slipped off the clutch pedal and a farmer rolled over with his tractor.
The man's chest was heavily crushed by the wheel, but he was able to scream, and his two daughters, 16-year-old Hannah and 14-year-old Hayley, heard it. The girls rushed to the aid of their father and miraculously managed to lift the heavy tractor. This was enough for Mr. Smith to breathe freely.
It is surprising. You've heard of such cases where the adrenaline rush helped people do unreal things. They could lift cars in this state, so my girls did it, because they were so scared for me. Although, I would not have believed that it was possible if I had not seen it myself,”the lucky man told a regional correspondent for NBC.
Then the girls themselves tried to finally pull their father out from under the tractor, but they failed. Hannah then jumped on an ATV and ran after a neighbor, who arrived with his tractor and pulled the heavy vehicle free, freeing Jeff Smith. After that, the man was hospitalized, he spent some time in the hospital with a broken wrist and other injuries. At the same time, Mr. Smith rightly believes that he got off easy.
“On that day, Hannah, before the ambulance arrived, managed to call me and tell me about what had happened, but I thought it was just such a bad joke,” says the girls' mother. “To be honest, I myself could not believe what happened,” Hannah admits. “It’s just great that we didn’t go to visit our friends then, as we planned.” After all that happened, the neighbor helped Jeff finish the business he had begun in the garden, and the family gave the tractor the nickname Satan.
