In the tradition of the Slavs, fortune-telling is a certain ritual that is aimed at establishing contact with the other world. In order to find out our future, our ancestors said that it is necessary to look more closely at the signs that nature sends, and be able to guess them correctly. In addition, since ancient times, fortune tellers have existed around the world who could see human destinies and possessed certain secret knowledge.

But in ancient times, as a rule, almost everyone was guessing. Particular attention was paid to fortune-telling on popularly favorite holidays - Christmas, Epiphany. However, fortune-telling on New Year's Eve, when the connection with the other world was especially strong, was considered the most accurate and correct.

The girls were mainly interested in questions related to their personal life, in particular, with the choice of a husband. The girls wanted to know if they would get married in the new year or would have to wait until next year.

Traditionally, it was served on a loaf for the New Year. The girls got together and baked their own loaf each, marking it with a bright thread. Water for him was carried from the well only in the mouth. When the loaves were ready, a hungry dog was allowed into the house, and on whose baking the animal would attack first, that girl would be the first to marry.

In addition, on New Year's Eve, the girls went to “listen” under the windows, and they interpreted everything they heard in accordance with the questions of interest.

There was also fortune telling in the name of the future betrothed. For this, the girls went out into the street and asked the name of the first person they met. It was believed that this is the name the future spouse would bear.

And in order to find out in which side the constricted person lives, the girls threw a boot over the fence (in some cases, through the roof of the house). Then I had to find shoes and see which way the sock was turned.

To find out who the future husband will be by profession, they went to the river and collected silt from the bottom. Brought home and carefully examined. If you find a nail, a chip or sand, the betrothed will be a blacksmith, carpenter or bricklayer. If you did not find anything, then you will be a plowman.

And finally, to see the appearance of the betrothed, a comb was placed under the pillow. The future spouse was supposed to appear in a dream.

In addition to folk fortune telling, there were also rituals using numbers. Even the ancient Greeks said that numbers conceal the essence of all events and things in the world. It was in Ancient Greece that the first fortune-telling appeared, both using numbers, and fortune-telling on coffee grounds, on cards, on runes. But it was fortune-telling on numbers that was most popular, because with the help of knowledge about numbers, it was believed that one could learn not only about one's own future, but also get answers to many questions about the universe and life.

It should be noted that in numerology, as a separate branch of parascience, astronomical, mathematical, biological, psychological teachings are combined. By the numbers that are encoded in the date of birth and name, such fortune-telling is aimed at predicting the future of each individual person.

There are many fortune-telling by numbers, but in order for them to be true, a number of requirements must be observed. The most important thing is to always remember that guessing by numbers has nothing to do with entertainment or fun pastime. This is a serious magical ritual that must be treated with all responsibility and seriousness. Only in this way can you get truthful answers to your questions. If you sincerely believe that fortune-telling by numbers, among other things, like any other, has a certain magical power, and that it can really give truthful answers, then only then can you get the right information.

Fortune telling by numbers can be used not only to learn about relationships, about love, about the future life, but also to get to know better the character of the hidden person.

In addition to this method, there is a fortune-telling on the cards. In particular, we are talking about the so-called tarot cards.

Nowadays, Tarot cards are especially popular with women who use them to find out their past and future, to determine changes in life, sometimes even regretting that they agreed to this fortune-telling.

Tarot cards were originally playing cards. And their only distinguishing feature was that the deck contained senior cards, which were considered the fifth suit. The first tarot cards appeared around 1200. Drawn them in different ways, depending on the country of residence of the artist and his imagination. Later, a version appeared that these cards appeared in Egypt, and only then spread throughout the world. Initially, their distribution was associated with the Gypsies, but in fact, this people had their own Tarot cards, which were very different from those that are currently used. They not only looked different, but also had completely different meanings.

There are many other versions of the appearance of these cards. It is especially necessary to highlight one of them, especially in the light of the fact that for some time now Tarot cards are considered to be fateful. According to legend, when a demon appeared on earth, he looked for sinful souls and enclosed them in cards, and then threw this deck to people. People, in turn, began to spread them around the world, plunging thereby into even greater sins and opening the gates of hell. A very simple conclusion can be drawn from this legend - both magic and fortune-telling are deadly sins. Whatever it was, but modern girls and women are not afraid, apparently nothing, since they repeatedly turn to fortune-tellers and cleavers with a request to tell fortunes for the future.

It should be noted that in modern times, with the development of technology, other methods of fortune telling have appeared - on the Internet, by phone, by a book. They can guess by chamomiles, tea leaves, runes and colored stones, and beans. Of course, you shouldn't take them seriously, it's more entertainment than a desire to find out the answers to some important questions.

So is it worth believing in fortune-telling, or is it nothing more than fiction, a joke?

According to parapsychologists, fortune-telling in some cases, undoubtedly, can predict the future. And practice shows that sometimes fortune-telling comes true, and so accurately that it cannot but surprise. Probably, it is very important in such cases to believe that everything that has been divined will definitely come true. It is equally important that the fortune-teller really has magical abilities, which is extremely rare.

In addition, certain conditions must be met. So, for example, you can read Tarot cards only once in your life.

Every time a person resorts to fortune-telling, he gives up a piece of his soul and falls into a vicious circle - it seems that one cannot not believe, but one does not really want to believe if something bad is predicted. Perhaps you shouldn't guess at all, so as not to tempt fate once again? Or guess, but be very careful not to become addicted, and not try to find out the future with the help of otherworldly forces every time.

Be that as it may, but each person must decide for himself whether he needs it or not, and whether it is worth guessing at all, or is it better to wait and see what happens in the future. It's much more interesting to live like that. In addition, if a fortune-teller predicts something bad, the person mentally tunes in to it, thus attracting all this into his life, and becoming, in fact, the culprit of all his troubles. A person loses the ability to independently solve his problems, becomes dependent and weak, completely relying on magic.

It is also important to remember that religion treats all kinds of fortune-telling extremely negatively, because this is a sin for which there is no excuse.

Over time, traditions are forgotten, lose their content and form, and are perceived in a completely different way. Nevertheless, on the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, one so wants to see the future with at least one eye. That's when grandmother's spells are remembered, and candles are lit in front of mirrors …
