"Crimson Mist" - probably this phrase is familiar to everyone. More than one generation of science fiction writers successfully develops this topic and writes more and more horrors about the crimson fog: a terrible haze inhabited by unprecedented monsters, mysterious creatures, or ghosts and aliens.
But not only writers are interested in the origin of the crimson fog: scientists, researchers of anomalous phenomena, ufology and just adventurers also pose the question of what a crimson fog is and what it can bring to our world.
Indeed, is the crimson fog really just the inventions of talented authors? And where do the crimson mist ideas come from? It turns out that the crimson fog actually exists, as evidenced by eyewitnesses.
This phenomenon was recorded by many people, both ordinary people and scientists - researchers who tried to penetrate the secrets of this unique phenomenon. Moreover, the crimson fog not only exists, but is also associated with a mass of mysterious phenomena, the first and most important of which is that sometimes people disappear without a trace and irrevocably in the crimson fog.
One of the most harmless manifestations of the crimson fog was recorded in August 2001. Then none of the eyewitnesses was hurt, but the horror caused by the appearance of the crimson haze did not pass for a long time. This is how it happened: a group of tourists went to the Elitsa River in the Moscow Region.
The young people planned to sit by the fire, sing songs with a guitar - in general, to have a rest so that they would have pleasant memories for a long time. In fact, everything turned out completely differently: in the midst of the evening, when twilight was just beginning to fall on the ground, as if from nowhere appeared crimson clouds of fog.
The fog looked like a snowball - it did not cover all of the visible space, but only a part and moved as if it were being deliberately pushed by an invisible hand. Later, all eyewitnesses shared the same story. The horror seemed to have nailed them to the ground, they could not move either hand or foot.

The impression was created that the crimson haze was illuminated from within by a gloomy radiance, and from its depths someone's attentive gaze was watching the young people. No one could utter a word until the crimson clouds came close to the fire.
At that moment, the clouds of fog, as if burned by fire, recoiled back and melted as suddenly as they appeared. Friends, without saying a word, began frantically to collect things and left as quickly as possible. None of the guys came to those lands again.
In general, mysterious foggy phenomena are not so rare.
Most often, such phenomena in our country are recorded in the north of the Kaluga region. In 2002, a group of scientists even went to the site to conduct research on foggy anomalies. The expedition members managed to record unusual manifestations of this seemingly ordinary natural phenomenon.
The first unusual find, according to scientists, was a foggy formation, which is a whitish pillar, as if hovering between heaven and earth. A second similar formation was discovered a few hours later. This time, the clouds of fog seemed to have frozen over the ground in the form of two inverted domes.
Surprisingly, as soon as the foggy figures were illuminated by direct light (scientists directed a flashlight beam at them in order to better see them), the formations seemed to “melt away”, only dew on the grass remained from them.
Having met a third similar formation, this time in the form of a milky-white ball, hovering several meters above the ground, the researchers decided to observe it without directing light in its direction. According to scientists, the formation lasted about 3 hours from the moment of discovery and gradually melted by itself.
At the same time, the crimson fog is known not only for its mysterious shapes and movements. One of the varieties of such a surprising and terrible fog hit Kaluga in the early 2000s. The crimson fog was not a combination of the smallest droplets of water, as is usually the case, everything was much worse.
According to eyewitnesses, the foggy compounds that fell on the city consisted … of fiery particles. Moreover, the particles constantly changed color, becoming yellow, red, scarlet and even pale pink. The wall of "fire" seemed to be covered with patterns of stripes and circles of different colors, which were also constantly changing. Fortunately, the end of the world did not last long. A few minutes later, the wall of "crimson fog" dissipated and disappeared, leaving no trace.
A similar case happened with an excursion group of teachers and students of one of the Novosibirsk universities, who went to the taiga to look at the place where the famous Tunguska meteorite fell.
Young people decided to go on foot and admire the beauty of the local nature. Since the journey took several days, the guys stopped every evening for the night in some particularly picturesque place.
On one of these evenings, it was decided to set up a temporary camp at the top of a hill, from which, judging by the map of the area, a view of a small taiga lake should have opened. Tourists were not embarrassed even by the strange whitish haze that covered the top of the hill, despite the fine day.
Climbing to the top, eyewitnesses saw a frightening picture - a fiery stream of lava was seething in the place of the supposed lake. Lava was constantly changing in color, shimmering from red-scarlet to bright red. Above the surface of this fiery river, multicolored flashes darted, similar to sparks from a fire. And what is most terrible - the seething stream rose higher and higher, each minute approaching the top of the hill on which the young people stood.
The guys ran down as fast as possible, fleeing the deadly stream. The frightened people decided to hide in the forest, especially since they had no other choice. For several hours, the friends speculated about the appearance of a fiery river, waiting in horror for the stream to reach them. However, the night passed, and nothing terrible happened.
Then several daredevils decided to return to the ill-fated lake. Young people climbed the hill, and what was their surprise when below they saw only the smooth surface of the water and the endlessly receding horizon. No traces of yesterday's incident could be found, even when the whole group went down to the lake and carefully surveyed the area.
Later, while discussing this amazing case, one of the students recalled a mysterious circumstance. Even on the way to the lake, seeing a gloomy haze over the top of the hill, one of the eyewitnesses wanted to listen to the radio to find out the weather forecast. But the strange thing is, no matter how many guys tried to tune the receiver, only silence and crackling came from the speaker. But the next day the receiver worked properly.
As it turned out later, such a manifestation of fog was observed at different times in other regions. Researchers closely engaged in this issue, conducted observations and concluded that perhaps the "cold fire" (as this natural phenomenon was called) is nothing more than a kind of aurora borealis, which arose for unknown reasons in the lower atmosphere, in regions where the aurora borealis should not meet.
However, not all scientists share this opinion, and here is why: one of the casual observers of the "cold fire" claims to have noticed a clot of fiery fog over the roof of his own house. The eyewitness was about to call the firefighters, as he thought that the house had caught fire, but the fireball slowly took the form of a disk and … flew away.
Based on the eyewitness account, the researchers of the anomalous phenomena came to the conclusion that the appearance of the crimson fog is somehow connected with the UFOs that visited our planet. This theory is confirmed by an incident with Novosibirsk students. Indeed, some believe that the Tunguska meteorite is nothing more than the wreckage of an alien aircraft.
Whether this is really so, whether nature plays in this way with people or an alien mind leaves traces of its presence on Earth, it is not clear. But people who found themselves in the very center of such a fog and watched the "cold fire" from the inside could not come to their senses for a long time.
To find out the origin of all these amazing phenomena, it is first of all necessary to answer the main question: what is fog, how and where does it come from, and why does it sometimes take on such mysterious forms and so mysteriously affect people?
The generally accepted definition of fog is: "Fog is a form of condensation of water vapor in the form of microscopic droplets or ice crystals, which, collecting in the surface layer of the atmosphere (sometimes up to several hundred meters), make the air less transparent."
In other words, fog is just microscopic droplets of water. But how and why do these droplets sometimes gather in such bizarre forms and can even harm a person? More than one generation of scientists, academicians, ufologists and other researchers is struggling with this issue.
So, for example, research scientist Alexei Labutin makes the following assumption: everyone knows that fog begins to form on the smallest particles of dust, which attract water droplets, and if there are no dust particles, then on even smaller particles - ions. That is, foggy formations take the form in which dust particles or ions are located.
Labutin declares that, perhaps, some "criters" are to blame for the bizarre arrangement of ions - compounds entirely consisting of discharged matter. Criters cannot be discerned with the human eye, but when the humidity of the air increases, and its temperature at the same moment drops sharply (that is, there are prerequisites for the appearance of fog), the critters become noticeable, since the smallest particles of which they are composed attract water to themselves.
Unfortunately, the answer to the question of how exactly the criters are formed has not yet been found. Some researchers of anomalous phenomena suggest that kriters are energy that, possibly, the human soul gives off.
It is this definition of the emergence of kreters and their sometimes completely unimaginable forms of ufology that explain the stories of eyewitnesses who saw ghosts.
After all, the human soul has not yet been studied by science, and ghosts, according to eyewitnesses, are somewhat similar to foggy silhouettes - milky white, transparent, with blurred outlines. But whether this is so and whether it is really, observing bizarre foggy formations, we see the souls of departed people, is still unknown.
However, the same Labutin suggests that, possibly, the effect of ionizing radiation can be caused by sources completely unknown to science. The scientist states that the clots of such cures are especially dangerous in the so-called anomalous zones. Indeed, inside the foggy haze, a sharp shift in space-time parameters can occur.
It is with this that Aleksey Labutin explains the multiple disappearances of people in the "crimson fog". Perhaps people did not disappear without a trace, but fell into a time loop or made a jump in time. That is, the discharged particles that have formed fog in the anomalous zone open for us the entrance to other worlds - to the past and the future.
Labutin's theory is indirectly proved by the stories of eyewitnesses who managed to get out of the foggy haze. Cases have been repeatedly recorded when a person, accidentally wandering into a foggy area, suddenly found himself hundreds of kilometers away from the place where he stood only a minute ago. And since there are facts confirming movements in space inside foggy formations, it is possible that movements in time also occur.
One of these amazing cases occurred in England back in the 70s. last century. A local woman was cycling when a thunderstorm suddenly began. Moreover, the bad weather was accompanied by a strange fog - a crimson haze covered the ground so that practically nothing but clouds of fog could be seen at a distance of several steps.
The girl pulled over to the side of the road, and then, as if by magic, a small wooden house appeared in front of her. The girl decided to wait out the storm in it. The owner of the house turned out to be a strange old man, he allowed the girl to stay until the weather improved, but at the same time he did not utter a word, only gestured that she could sit down.
Out of fatigue, the girl closed her eyes for a second and found herself … cycling home. At the same time, she did not remember how she said goodbye to the owner, or how she left the strange house, or how she went outside and got on the bike.
Moreover, passing the same road after a while, the girl could not find that mysterious house where she waited out a thunderstorm and a crimson fog, no matter how hard she tried. Where the cyclist got to and who she visited, she does not know, but suggests that, perhaps, she traveled to a certain parallel dimension, the door to which was a crimson fog.
An equally surprising case occurred in Russia, in the Leningrad Region, already in the early 90s. last century. Three friends decided to go fishing. On the way out of the city they were suddenly caught by a thunderstorm, but the comrades decided to continue their journey.
Approaching the place where it was decided to set up a camp with tents and a bonfire, friends noticed clots of a strange thick fog. As one of the eyewitnesses later said, the one who was driving, it seemed to him that from the foggy haze, as if someone was watching their car. An incomprehensible fear seized the driver; from surging emotions, poor visibility and blinding flashes of lightning for some moment he lost control.
This moment almost became fatal for the comrades: the car flew off the road into a ditch and crashed into a tree standing nearby. Fortunately, everything ended well: the driver received only bruises and abrasions, and the passengers were not injured at all.
Nevertheless, the situation turned out to be catastrophic: there are many kilometers to the nearest village, the car was seriously damaged from the collision, and a thunderstorm is raging all around. Due to the fog, visibility deteriorated so much that friends could not even determine their location.
And then one of them noticed a flickering light in the distance. The comrades went into the light, trying not to lose each other in the thick, crimson, as if fabulous, haze. The glowing light turned out to be a small hut with a high porch. Surprisingly, when driving through these places earlier, in clear weather, none of the friends noticed any hut.
The unlucky fishermen entered the house, where they were met by an old woman. The old woman seemed as ancient as the furnishings in the house: instead of beds, there were wooden benches by the walls, instead of electric lamps - a candle in an old candlestick on the table. The hostess fed the travelers with soup, applied a compress to the driver's abrasions and put everyone to bed.
At the same time, the woman did not utter a word: she silently served dinner, silently indicated where friends can stay for the night. After eating and recovering a little, the comrades instantly fell asleep, and in the morning they woke up … in the open air! No old woman, no house - nothing! Only old ruins and ancient boulders are the remains of some kind of structure.
The friends were utterly surprised by the story that happened to them, all three clearly remembered both the house and the hospitable silent hostess. Having decided to find out what happened to them, they managed to find out that a few years ago a similar incident happened to another person. The details of the stories converged - the same thunderstorm, the same surprisingly thick crimson fog, the same hut in the same place with the silent hostess, the same mysterious disappearance of all signs of human habitation in the morning.
After examining all the facts, the comrades felt that they had been in the past. It is possible that in some mysterious way a crimson fog opens the door in ancient times, at a time when people still lived on the site of the ruins and there was a hut with its mysterious mistress.
And if we take into account all the above facts and eyewitness accounts, recall a similar story that happened in the 70s. in England, we can conclude: perhaps a thunderstorm is somehow the catalyst for the appearance of the crimson fog. But what exactly - deafening thunder, pouring rain and flashes of lightning or a combination of all these factors - lifts the curtain of time for people while it remains unclear.
