There are many mysterious places on earth, the cause of which has not yet been established. Among them is the Russian island of Champa. It is included in the travel program for the Arctic region and is very popular with tourists.
Where is Champ Island?
Many have heard of the mystical Easter Island with its unique sculptures. But very few people know about the mysterious place of Champ. It is one of the many islands in the Franz Josef Land archipelago. Due to its remoteness, it has hardly been studied. Champa Island is about 375 sq. km. Outwardly, the island is no different from any other piece of land within this area.
It is rocky and with very steep slopes, and glaciers are not found throughout the territory.
According to the records of various researchers, the island has very tasty and clean spring water. There are no people and no buildings here. It is periodically visited by fishermen, weather forecasters and researchers of the Northern Sea Route. It's hard to believe, but at the height of the 21st century, the Arctic region has not even been half explored. There are only banal geographical maps and poorly described travel experiences, as well as climate forecasts.

Giant stone balls and tiny balls
The place is famous not so much for its beautiful landscapes and virgin nature as for the presence of boulders. Among them there are objects of huge sizes in the shape of a circle. They significantly exceed the height of a person. There are also very small peas that are perfect.
Due to the powerful currents of wind, moisture and freezing temperatures, many of them were deformed and looked like cobblestones. Each year, melting glacial rocks wash out more and more new forms. Some of the spherulites lie dug to the ground, while others just stand. Many travelers who have visited here say that seeing this picture gives the impression that giants were playing football on the site.
Different versions
In 2001, an expedition of scientists encountered a phenomenon that even the most sophisticated science fiction writers could not foresee. A perfectly flat surface was strewn with absolutely round balls. Fifty years ago, balls of the same shape were found in the jungles of Costa Rica when preparing a site for a plantation. During the research, scientists found out that the balls are filled with granite, and a core of volcanic rock was found in the center.

In 2003, journalists discovered a huge site with similar fossils in Mangyshlak. The objects on Champ Island are composed of highly structured sand, and some of them contain ancient shark tusks. This clearly indicates far from volcanic history.
Each person who comes on an excursion or on a business trip does not remain indifferent and builds his own guesses and assumptions.
According to one of the assumptions, the balls acquired a round shape as a result of washing with water. However, if you can still believe this version with tiny stones, then what about the three-meter giants?
It is unlikely that it will be possible to solve the riddle of Champa Island in the near future. Scientists are at a loss as to the origin of stone balls in this uninhabited territory. All existing theories are not perfect, and they give more questions than answers.
