Many believe that if a black cat crosses their path, it is worth waiting for misfortune, meeting their own "double" promises a quick death, dark ghostly silhouettes portend trouble and everything in the same spirit.
Here is a list of seven otherworldly mythical creatures, meeting with which definitely does not bode well …
Red dwarf
They say the Red Dwarf can be found in Detroit, Michigan. It is believed that this creature is the “heritage” of the Ottawa tribe, which once lived here. The dwarf was considered the son of their stone god, who attacked European colonists and promised their death.
The first person to notice the dwarf was Detroit founder Antoine de la Mote Cadillac. The creature was then sighted during the battle during the Pontiac Rebellion in 1793, before the fire of 1805, before the surrender of General Hull, and during the 1967 riots in Detroit.
Today, a version is spreading about the folklore origin of the dwarf, who is considered not a dark force, but the guardian of the city.

Mothman
Mothman, also referred to as the "Mothman", is a winged beast that was first seen at Point Pleasant, West Virginia in 1966.
A group of people were digging a grave (intriguing context, isn't it?) When they saw a strange humanoid creature with wings and glowing red eyes. And if this time nothing terrible happened, then the next meeting with Mothman happened during the collapse of the Silver Bridge, which killed about 40 people.
Since then, people began to associate the appearance of Mothman with impending dangers and deaths.
Chernobyl Black Bird
Speaking of the winged harbingers of trouble, it is worth mentioning this Black Bird, which began to appear at the site of a future tragedy since the end of the winter of 1986.
The creature was described in much the same way as Mothman - a humanoid winged creature with glowing red eyes, covered with dark hair. People who encountered the creature began to receive mysterious phone calls and have nightmares. Meetings with the “bird” continued until the morning of April 26, 1986, when a nuclear reactor exploded.
The pilots and rescuers who bravely fought with the fire subsequently told horror stories about a creepy black figure that circled over the destroyed reactor. This was the last time people saw the Black Bird. Perhaps she just completed her black mission.
Cioeret
The Cioereth is a mythological creature of Welsh folklore that haunts the lands and people of Wales. It is considered a harbinger of death and a nightmarish fate awaits anyone who hears its terrible moans and screams. If you hear Tsioeret's screams while at sea, you are sure to expect a shipwreck.
Those who have met this terrible creature describe it as a creature with long, tousled hair, black sharp teeth, long dry hands and such a hellish cry that it brings death with it.
White deer
Unlike all of the above creatures, the white deer has a completely terrestrial origin and is found in nature.
Due to their unusual color, albino animals have always occupied a special place in the folklore of different peoples of the world.
For example, the Celts considered such animals as messengers from other worlds, which by their appearance showed that people violated the will of the gods. A meeting with such an animal meant inevitable death.
But in the legends of England, the white deer symbolized the spiritual quest of humanity. It was believed that this animal could not be captured or killed by mere mortals.
Flying Dutchman
Ancient nautical legends tell of a ghost ship called the Flying Dutchman, whose crew is forever doomed to sail at sea and never enter port or step on land.
In 1790, John MacDonald described how the Flying Dutchman tried to enter the port in Cape Town, but was thrown back into the sea by the forces of the elements and never returned. After that, numerous evidences of a meeting with a ghost ship appeared. They say that a meeting with a ship threatens disasters, both sea and land.
Children with black eyes
Perhaps the most eerie harbingers of trouble are these creatures who take on the guise of children with completely black eyes.
Encounters with them were first described in the 1960s in Cannock Chase, England, and in the 90s there were numerous stories of encounters with black-eyed children in the United States.
In 2015, a group of paranormal researchers spotted and filmed a black-eyed girl wandering around a field near Cannock Chase.
They are reportedly often seen wandering along roads or hitchhiking, or at the front door of residential buildings.
Today, the dispute continues over the origin of these children - they are considered demons, vampires and aliens, but one thing is certain - those who met with them later had great trouble.
