British scientist Stephen Hawking called the main condition for the survival of mankind. The physicist spoke about this in the preview to the International Festival of Science and Arts Starmus IV, which will be held from 18 to 23 June 2017 in the city of Trondheim (Norway). The expert's statement is quoted by The Independent.

“I strongly believe that we need to start looking for alternative planets for possible habitation,” Hawking said. During the preview of the festival held in London, the scientist also presented a new model of gold watches from the Swiss company Omega, which sponsored Starmus IV.

In March 2017, a British scientist supported the idea of creating a world government. According to Hawking, this will allow stopping human aggression, in particular, biological or nuclear war, which, according to the expert, is under threat of a person.

In April 2015, the Briton launched the procedure for registering his name as a trademark. The physicist has already submitted the required documents to the UK Intellectual Property Office. The funds that a scientist can receive for the sale of products with his name, Hawking is going to spend on charitable causes, in particular the fight against AIDS.

Hawking's main scientific result is related to the description of radiation from black holes. The physicist's research was prompted by a visit to the USSR in the 1970s, as a result of which the Briton learned that Vladimir Gribov takes it for granted that black holes emit due to vacuum fluctuations. The Soviet physicist did not publish a single article on this subject, and Hawking quantitatively calculated the thermal spectrum of a black hole.

Hawking became widely known after his popular science book A Brief History of Time was published in April 1988. It has been translated into dozens of languages and published with a total circulation of over 10 million copies.
